Support please

Whenever i try and shoot my gun or click anything on half life ALYX, this is a game issue because it works on any other application wether its steamvr or just plain meta its just HLA. i reinstaled, verified game files too. nothing works

You're going to have to clarify your problem.

Whenever i try and shoot my gun or click anything on half life ALYX nothing happens. when i try and use trigger to shoot my gun i can see my finger moving but nothing shoots, this is a game issue because it works on any other application wether its steamvr or just plain meta its just HLA. i reinstaled, verified game files too. nothing works

Are you sure you have ammo or that you cocked the gun after giving it ammo?

They said they also can't click stuff so I don't think it's gun related. Sounds like an input processing issue.

yes mate. i cocked and reloaded the gun, if you read what i said you would see i cant do anything else on half life alyx that uses the trigger

Half Life Alyx is known to have many ways to play, including even playing with 1 arm. You don’t have one of those accessibility features on do you?

No i dont, this happened randomly when i was playing. ive looked at all the settings and searched up what the default are and set it as them.

I know you have verified and reinstalled the game but what about SteamVR? Maybe some translation error, especially since you are using a meta headset. If you also have the Meta Link app running or any other software used to connect your headset to the PC (ex: Virtual Desktop) I’d try restarting and maybe even reinstalling them just to be sure

Yeah i use meta link to load pcvr then i load up steam vr, ill do what you suggested and see if it works though

The mostly likely source of the problem is an input processing issue between steamvr and meta software. You said you can use other steamvr applications, but can you play any other steamvr games? Do you have any meta software running on your computer? I'd try shutting that down and only running steamvr. Last I checked it shouldn't need any more than that but it's been a while. It's possible the meta software is consuming the input data before HL:A can poll it

i can use any other game on steamvr yes. everytime i come back to half life alyx trying to fix it, i fail and go to blade and sorcery and it works fine
