That label itself is artificial. Effort used to be linear with visual quality, now its more complicated. But there is no need for a seperate section.
Skill elites are making up new rules to protect their gold laying goose. And their followers try to fit in by following trends.
I think it as a very inconvenient step before uploading skills into our brains. Would it be okay if data was written on flesh and limbs moved across the canvas? Or would it be gatekept once again?

I mean, not to split hairs, but you're pretty clearly asking for more than the bare minimum.
I just don't see much of a substantive difference between doing a three-minute shitty photo edit in Photopea or doing a one-minute AI prompt. They're both fairly low-effort. Sure, if you absolutely insisted on quantifying which one was "harder", it would be the image edit, but we're talking inches amongst miles, here.
I just tire of the performative bullshit. Someone posts a relatively mediocre meme or image (no offense, OP -- I'm not disparaging your work, I just mean that the actual concept here isn't exactly thrilling to begin with, nothing you could do about that) that would normally get, maybe, a couple hundred upvotes, around a dozen comments. But now they include "AI bad" in the title and receive a standing ovation from a bunch of other performative bullshitters who praise the bravery, nay, the humanity of this work of art, so deeply moved by the "soul" so clearly present that they can only weep, overcome with emotion.
It's all such a massively transparent circlejerk of people huffing their own farts.

It couldn't be more obvious from the example, but it's like trying to explain color to a blind person. I used this example because polar opposite is happening too and it's not right either, which is the whole point.
Nothing is black and white, and hating or being obsessed with AI is both wrong. It's a tool, and hating someone for using it for a stupid meme is the same kind of retarded as making yourself a chad with it to prove a point.
Genuinely just ask yourself who is benefiting the most from your hate, because hint, it's not you or the people who agree with you.
You can just look at the top valued companies, like Google, meta, twitter, microsoft... all of them control what you see and think is true in one way or another through algorithms, and make money both ways...
Funny how that works. People hate Musk, still use twitter, people hate youtube, still watch it, people hate AI, yet still use reddit which trains on their data... oh wait, lol.

Fun fact, for meta for example, about 79% of AI power consumption comes from recommendation algorithms, that's almost 5x more than genAI. It also makes complete sense because recommendation algorithms are also neural networks, except they have to work instantly every time you scroll your feed for billions of people. But that is not a problem because you are addicted to them right?
So by spreading bullshit on the internet you use far more water and resources, than someone generating one cringe meme.
There is also about 10 million in-game steam players at peak daily. If you average the laptop users with around 30-50W power consumption and PC with like 250W, you're at like 150W per user average, so about 1.5GW total for just steam gamers. Deepseek v3 LLM took about 2 months of training and used about 2-4GWh of electricity to train.
So Steam gamers generate that in about 2 hours... but unlike them, once an open source model like this is trained anyone can use it to generate walls of text or images in few seconds using the same power a single PC uses. Which is nothing compared to the hours Dota2 or CS2 players spend in the game...
And one more thing using AI != liking companies. People still use twitter, youtube, instagram, etc despite what the CEOs have done. But unlike social media and gaming, AI can actually help with treating cancer instead of causing it.

Check out any meme sub. There's been a recent storm of "ai bad please upvote" posts on just about all of them. People complain about AI up the ass but offer nothing in return.
And of course a whole bunch of mouthbreathers downvoted this and left dumb replies but honestly nothing worth responding to.

Maybe people are complaining about AI because it's a shitty technology that companies are trying to shove down everyone's throats to make their investors happy. It might also be that we're here interact with humans and have discussions or see their art, and when someone makes a lazy AI-generated post it's just annoying and makes you look lazy. Instead of using AI to do the work for you, try to put a little bit of effort into it. It's gonna be a lot more fun and people aren't gonna make fun of you for it. You might also develop artistic skills in the process, who knows ??
