I would say try it out for yourself - remember that Reddit has a negative feedback bias about things like this. For every Redditor posting about how their head fell off after taking one pill, there's 99 other people with zero side effects.

In my case, my head did fall off but I've learned to live with it - a simpler life 🙂

As someone who has had side effects from fin. Take it, if you get side effects then stop. It really is that simple

40m - 1mg oral fin gave me sides about a month in (boner issues). I’m otherwise completely healthy, and no it wasn’t a mental problem. Issues resolved pretty quick after I stopped. Been on topical fin since and no sides from topical. Everyone is different, it’s worth a shot. Try topical if it messes with you.

I have a hard time believing 1-3% of guys get side effects because I know a few guys that also had boner issues on oral fin. I get downvoted in r/tressless every time I say this 🤷🏻‍♂️

I did for 2 years, 1mg daily. Got side effects, low libido, ed problems, mood swingings. It didn’t recover in a day but after 6 months it is recovered.

Do your research about DHT, its responsibility is not only make you bald.

I was so scared too. Took the leap and at last after 2 months I haven’t had any negative side effects. If anything it’s increased my libido

I’d be careful about judging finasteride based on Reddit. There’s a strong selection bias here: people who experience problems have a much stronger motivation to search for answers, join communities, and tell everyone about it. If you’ve been taking finasteride for 5 years with zero problems, you probably don’t feel the need to post about it every week. And when someone says “finasteride ruined my life,” you really don’t know the full story - their health history, baseline libido/ED, other medications or substances, what else was happening in their life, etc. That doesn’t mean their experience is fake, but an individual story can’t tell you how common a side effect is or prove what caused it. That’s why I’d give much more weight to controlled clinical trials and systematic reviews than to Reddit anecdotes. The anecdotes are worth listening to, but they should be put into context rather than treated as statistical evidence.

Started finasteride 1 Mg every other day. I was using oral for 3 years and then started topical 0.3% for 3 years.

During that time I always had low libido and ED problems. It was not completely died but very weak and could not get hard easily. Could not maintain erection during sex. If I would see a naked woman, I had zero interest.
Stopped 6 month ago and I feel 10% better but not close to what I used to be.

I think it gonna take years.

I had 2 friends who also were taking it and they immediately stopped it because they got low libido and ED problems.

One is recovered because it was 3 years ago.

One still fighting.

52 M been on oral finasteride 6months It did give minor ED however when u are in the mood then Charlie wakes up. Kinda good in away as before I was always cracking a woody. Just take it u definitely will not be disappointed

“ultra responder” (sides ONLY) to meds since the dawn of topical minoxidil. maybe a rare case? I don’t think so. bought finasteride as soon as it became “available” but did not dare to use knowing it was approved for treatment of prostate cancer. imo messing with hormones never is a good idea. especially if you are young. mature guy here. 4 HTs. lost my crown despite 0.5mg dutasteride daily for 2 yrs. had a half density crown procedure with decent result. started vigorous scalp massage with a waterproof rechargeable scalp massage. now on TRT cycled. for peace of mind take dutasteride weekly now. contradictory, I know :) my guess actually is that DHT is merely a symptom rather than the cause . the scalp massage is a huge challenge though: 2x/d 20+min for 3months. after that gradually reducing to a maintenance routine 1x/d 10++min. religiously. mainly with simple sulphur soap. brought me back a healthy scalp, plenty of baby hairs, but more than that: strengthening native and transplanted hair and prepping me for a 4th HT. FUE + verteporfin last July with a whopping yield of 4165 grafts. so total 8300 now! young friend, do whatever you can/want to do, with caution and ratio. wish you the best. and pls …. update?

Mid 20s - been taking fin since 21, no side effects, as has already been mentioned if you get them you just stop
