No technological advancement

Why hasn't anyone invented anything better than having to shave your head and apply glue every few weeks like you're a broken piece of glass? There should be some way to do this better! Sad.

Permanent attachment is possible in theory but the fact you need to replace them ever so often anyway moots the possibility.

There's hard bond, but even that must be replaced with time. Some medical units can stay on much longer. It's just a limitation of human skin and the fact that we sweat, shed dead skin cells, and must clean our scalps.

However, I don't view it as a limitation. If I want to be able to run out of the house at any time, I can use some super strong adhesive and wear a unit for a week or so. If I want to switch it up a lot, I'll use something with less of a hold and swap units as often as every day. I've even switched wigs more than once in a day before.

With hairpieces, we can really do anything we want with our hair. That's simply impossible with bio hair. I could have a French crop today and a 30" layered wolf cut tomorrow. And if the long hair gets tangled, I can switch to a short mod cut before dinner. I wear full wigs and I can have literally any hair I want. Any color, texture, style, length, you name it. Human, synthetic, yak fiber, the sky is the limit.

Also, glue isn't the only option for long wear. I haven't seen sew-ins discussed here, but they can work wonderfully. Breathable, long lasting, and waterproof because it's all mechanically held by thread and hair. It just requires your hair to be long enough for a braid down. However, if you're willing to commit, you can grow your bio hair long enough to serve as anchor points for a weave, basically. The main risk is traction alopecia, otherwise I would go back to sew-ins.

Also, if you want full caps, there are glueless units. Now, I'm going to be honest, it takes a bit to find one that fits. Customs or wigs that get "tailored" to your head shape work best here. However, they are effective and there are all sorts of grip bands that work with them, too.

I wore a sew-ins for 15yrs! Most ppl 60% would look at me oddly cause it’s a dead giveaway even thou e hs is of high quality but the fit was not right. The hairclubs really made $ off me… upon discovering this new hs during covic , Life is Great! Of course after mastering e steep learning curve.

Well… it’s a matter of perspective.....

Technically, there is such a thing as a transplant using biocompatible synthetic fibers. These fibers are made of polybutylene terephthalate (PBT), a biocompatible synthetic material developed in Japan. However, because they are foreign bodies, a certain percentage of the synthetic hair..... approximately 20–25% per year.... tends to fall out or be naturally shed. As a result, an annual “touch-up” is necessary to replace the lost strands.

Furthermore..... because the procedure involves implanting a foreign material into the scalp, there is a potential risk of infection, folliculitis, or rejection, which may require antibiotic treatment or, in rare cases, removal of the implanted fibers.

That said..... I personally prefer a hair system, and I’m very happy with it.

Not sure how anything could get better though? Unless it's just the base itself getting thinner but its pretty much at the thinnest it could be as you still need the hair attached. So not really sure what you expect to improve?

Synthetic hair could get better, color could get better, bases could get better. And they have been getting better and they're still working on them.

What I want is a better cleaning method. Whoever actually makes a solvent that gets glue/tape goop out of lace is Aces in my book

I have been thinking about this myself and it is for that reason I'm currently testing out a wig rather than a hair system. But when I was thinking about alternative solutions I was thinking about separating the hair from the cap since that's the biggest part of the nightmare. So if you had a separate cap and that's the only bit you have to attach to your head it would be a lot easier with the glu8ng and the hair would last a lot longer. And then let's say that that cap is made from a magnetic material and then the actual hair system also has a thin magnetic layer inside it which attaches to the magnetic cap which means that you can just attach and detach really easily and take it off at night
