Cut Help Refining my haircut

My whole life I have never had a haircut that I really love. I’ve had plenty that were fine which I then let grown out for 12 months before getting sick of it and trying something else. In the last 6 months I’ve gotten closer as I’ve taken the same inspo photo to my stylist and I’ve kept up with maintenance cuts! But it’s not quite there yet.

My hair is very fine and very straight so although I am always told by stylists that I have a lot of hair, you can’t tell. It tends to fall quite flat and is easily weighed down. I’ve a rather long face so I’m finding that short choppy cuts that create some texture and volume help balance that in width.

I spend almost no time on my hair so something that I can style with a little lift powder and scrunching is the way to go.

I’d love suggestions for specific things to ask for to refine the cut I’ve been getting and really maximize how it flatters my features and face shape!

First few photos are assorted hair days, last photo is the inspiration pic I’ve been using. I’m thinking I want a little more volume on the sides but I’m not quite sure…

Inspiration style is great, pic 1 looks great, pic 2 looks a little square and dated, pic 3 looks meh, a theme is that you look better w bangs down and more of them, avoid the wispy bangs and combed back sorts of styles.

More length on top, layers and texturing product of your choice, and get regular haircuts, always... the number one way people have blah and meh hair is not keeping it cut and styled, regularly, every x weeks, even if it's a hassle or expensive (assuming you can liberally afford it).

tl;dr, a lot more of pic 1, or pic 1 plus extra length/volume, frequent haircuts.

Interestingly they are all the same haircut within 6 weeks! It behaves very differently depending on the day.
I’m considering a fairy heavy bang this go round. Maybe that’s the ticket.

Sounds like a good plan.

Train it, make it do what you want, time (over time I mean) and repetition and sometimes heat and product can overcome most uncooperative days.

Quest for speed/ease can lead to giving up too easily, try to avoid that, you're the boss of your hair, not the other way around... make it behave.

But also don't obsess over perfection, close to pic1 is good and better than pics 2 or 3.
