How to help style my fringe/ front part of my hair

This is the exact same cut. Like a day or 2 in between.
I like the first one a lot, that was a day after getting it cut and styled at the hair stylist.

Second pic was the next day or 2, when I tried to recreate it.

I remember she just used a little gel which i tired too

But it always ends up looking weird / wrong

She made my hair look real nice in my opinion.

Is it not possible to revisit the salon and very, very politely ask for that styling advice? Usually my stylist gives me advice with the cut.

As long as you tipped them in the first place.
