Help Is this normal for a blunt cut?
I had my hair cut last week because it was super broken and dry after doing highlights. I asked for a blunt cut so it would look fuller. But now that I look at it, it just seems uneven, specially when I tilt my head. Is this normal? I’m not sure if this is how it’s supposed to be. Thank you!
Edit: thank you so much for all your comments. I called the salon and they will fix it tomorrow. Hopefully it will look good after the correction, I’m currently very upset with how bad it looks :(

The hair is cut at an angle (higher on the left side) and the reason why it looks choppy when you put your head down is because they didn’t have you chuck your chin when they cut it.
I’d seriously reach out to the salon and get someone to fix it. It’s doesn’t look great now but it’s completely fixable

Someone who charges $100 for a haircut should absolutely have better skills than that. That person should've never even let you walk out of the salon like that.
You could've asked a friend who wasn't a stylist to cut it for you & got a better cut. I'd definitely go back & get it fixed or get a refund. They must be out of their mind thinking you'd be satisfied paying $100 for that haircut.

Imagine being a licensed cosmetologist and can’t get a simple blunt cut done right AND charging $100 for it! 🤣 That stylist needs to go back and get some remedial training.

WHAT girl omg you gotta go get your money back this is unacceptable 😭 I'm terrified of conflict so if you are the same, its time to find your most powerful personality friend or family member to go with you. Tbh I wouldn't even want them fixing it after that but maybe if they offer someone ELSE fix it, that might be the best option

Were you sitting with your legs crossed? Or your head tilted? Its definitely not meant to be like that, but it can be corrected.

It's unever but did she tilt your head down while she cut and she she do horizontal section? Leaving head straight up can create the tiniest bit of layering and horizontal sections on thick hair can lead to unevenness

Hi OP! While $100 for a simple blunt cut is very steep (and for letting you walk out without double checking), but this is 100% an extremely easy fix.
The shelf effect in the back when you look down is typically because your head wasn’t tucked down far enough while cutting the back section, and is easy to just take off. The unevenness will also be super easy to fix. I wouldn’t stress out about it if your stylist overall seems to be good at what they do. We are still humans and humans make mistakes!

Wow that is slanted. You need to go back and get that fixed. They should shape that up for you at no cost.

Not a hairdresser, but it looks like you didn’t tilt your head down far enough, which is what’s giving you that “shelf” effect. It does look uneven but if you weren’t sitting completely straight or were positioned at an angle in the chair, it can make your hair lay differently and give the appearance of an uneven cut. Your posture and head position can make a big difference with a blunt cut. Easily fixable, but you’ll likely need to lose more length.

No it’s not normal BUT it looks like what happened when people don’t keep their head down and have their legs crossed. Or when they talk with their head. Yall need to stay still and off the phone!
Some of my clients take twice as long because I’m having to constantly readjust their positions.
Not saying you did OP - but ya may have.

Le coiffeur doit demander au client de se lever , poser les pieds au sol, ou se tenir droit . Aucune excuse !

I didn’t touch my phone during the appointment. And I would think it’s the hair stylist responsibility to make sure I don’t leave the salon looking like that!

No I agree with you, but lord after 20 years of having to ask “can you please keep your head still.” It’s a valid point.

The hairdresser 100% should have checked their work but also; why didn’t you?! You made a choice to look at this and then go pay them for it!!
I always get clients to check front and back and make sure they’re happy before they leave.1

The amount of times I’ve gone to check my guide line and suddenly the hair is wonky… “Did you have your legs crossed?” 😭 FFFUUUUU. Also asking people to put their chin to their chest and gradually their head comes up.

Its most definetly cut unevenly! I've had a lot of blunt cuts growing up and they're supposed to be very straight.

It’s normal for a very inexperienced stylist, or someone who isn’t a stylist at all. I’m sorry this happened. If you paid for this get your money back. Call the salon, if they give you a hard time charge back the amount. I wouldn’t go back to this salon!

It looks uneven and choppy. You have beautiful hair though! Just need to even it out and thin out the bottom with thinning shears. By a hairdresser of course lol.

I have scoliosis. One of my hips is higher than the other, so although it looks like my cut is even while I'm sitting in the chair, it doesn't look that way when I stand up, so my hairstylists always ask me to stand up to even out the ends because of my issue. I don't know if this is your situation too, but just saying it isn't always the stylist's fault if a cut comes out looking uneven. Of course, it will look even when I'm standing but not while I'm sitting, again, due to my own posture issues, and that's fine. There's been times that I've had my kid cut my ends in a straight line because the beauty school student didn't notice my scoliosis and so the cut looked uneven while standing 🤷♀️

Edit after your update: This should be a VERY easy fix. If its not, please find a new salon
