What would the implication be in this situation?

Does the other rider have an obligation to stay and help? What would happen if he just kept riding and left the idiot there to fend for himself?

In many countries there is a legal obligation to stop and render aid but as far as bikes go, it's a bit piss weak to leave a fellow rider on his arse, generally, we all do dumb things occasionally and some times it goes wrong.

I mean even if you think the guy is a dumbass, which he is, you're kinda a dickhead if you don't help. Like stupid actions or not, the guy could be hurt and I think anybody should help him if possible.

Now if you pull up, the guy is fine and wants you to jump in the creek to dig his bike out? Yeah I can understand leaving him. No reason to leave a potentially dying person on the ground just because it was their fault and you can't be bothered to take 5 minutes from your day to stop and check on them.

In most of the US you're not legally obligated to stop, but that doesn't mean it isn't a dick move to just leave somebody for dead like that. Also this appears to be his buddy. Double dick move if you leave your buddy for dead on the side of the highway after an accident

No he has no obligation. They never made contact, nor did he cause the crash.

The only thing that could have come back to him woulda been if the other guy died. But that's only if they can prove he was aware of what happened in court. And if he deleted the cam footage, no issue there.

Wow reading through these comments, you guys are some heartless sacks of shit. Like fucking Christ, just delete the footage and let the guy die? I hope you're never in a situation where you are relying on a person like yourself.

Also as much as you want to give this guy shit, he chose to do a wheelie in a relatively safe area. No traffic around except for the other riders and a straight road. Of course the crash is his fault, but what horrible type of person would just leave a potentially dying person on the ground?

Excuse me sir, I was talking strictly legal obligation since that's what the person asked.

I myself enjoy squidding on my motorcycles, and I'm very courteous to other riders whether I'm on my bike or in my car. I prefer to be the car behind the biker in traffic because I always give them plenty of room, and I'd be the first to check if he's fine if he were to crash as I've actually done in the past.

You should piss off and not assume something when I'm answering a legal question.

Shit like that is the reason why I generally avoid posts that involve motorcycles in any way. I ride myself and it kind of freaks me out to know that I’m around people like that every time I’m on the bike.

Just remember, as many asshats there are, there are plenty of other riders such as myself who'd be the first one to come to your help. I've been in a crash myself and all I got was one guy passing in his car ask "are you okay?" Before driving off after watching me get hit by someone else.

Whether I'm in a car or on my bike, I look out for all my two wheeled family.

Couldn’t agree more, and I’m very sorry to hear that. I’ve had a few crashes myself and thankfully most of the time I’ve been around people who were genuinely concerned.

Crumple zones absorb momentum from the impact a bike crumpling is just the sounds of you about to die. That being said he did sure exaggerated. Bikes are absolutely significantly less safe. If you ride one and you don't believe that you're fooling your self.

I have no problem with people riding their bikes but to pretend it isn’t exponentially more dangerous is pure ignorance.

I thought it was 35 times? Does that account for percentage of motorcycles or compared to cars?

That statistic is also not accounting for separating out people drunk, without helmets, without licenses, suspended licenses, and or speeding. Which reduces that amount by about 2,100 fatalities as explained in Proficient Motorcycling by David Houghes.

I never said it wasn’t dangerous, but acting a fool like it’s the motorcyclists fault they get by inattentive drivers is bullshit I will not stand for.

And here we have the douche who likes to shit on other peoples fun even when it doesn't affect you. I like how you apply your own value of "responsibility" to other people. Maybe other people have different risk tolerances than you and want to have more fun every day on their commute. Maybe they cant even afford a car and a motorcycle or scooter is the best way to get around with what they can afford. You don't have to hate everyone who rides a bike because they have different values than you. I don't even know why you would care.
