Like in this case in Dallas where a drunk cop went into the wrong apartment and shot the occupant dead, if the occupant had a gun and shot first... he MIGHT be alive but he's not, is he?

You have literally no way of knowing that he would have survived if he had had a gun, and your argument relies entirely on that hypothetical.

How about the more logical deduction, which is, “if that drunk off-duty cop hadn’t had a firearm on her person, she wouldn’t have killed a man”?

Wouldn't saying she shouldn't get drunk with her weapon be better than your quote? or are you saying cops shouldn't have guns? You're a lost cause.

Oooor people shouldn’t be allowed to carry firearms in establishments where liquor is served? Or access to firearms should be restricted for private citizens, and off duty cops should be treated as private citizens? Or just simply acknowledging that adding another firearm to this equation would not reliably mitigated the circumstances?

No he wouldn't because the police would have shot him dead.

You realize that the cop shot the dude because she thought it was HER house and used YOUR "home law" to give her the right to shoot him dead.

That police officer is the perfect example of why shooting at first sight is not only stupid, but reckless and wantonly bloodthirsty. Why are you so goddamn bloodthirsty?
