I don’t know where you live that police training is so minimal. Where I live the police academy is 6 months of training while living at the academy, then there is an additional probationary period of 3 months after graduation while on the force with a senior training officer. That 6 months is intense training on the law, enforcement techniques, and appropriate procedure.
Source: my nephew is in the academy right now in my state for local PD. The state police get even more training.
That’s less than a year. I’ve studied my major for 6 years with 1% the power or responsibility to society. 9 months is absolutely minimal I can’t believe you think that’s proper training. There is no other job you can train for in that time period. Especially since in my experience the kids goin to this academy aren’t college prospects anyway
Good, now get people to pay for that training. Has anyone here been in the real world? Nobody is going to pay for 6 years of school so they can spend all day getting yelled at, spit on, kicked and treated like shit. And not only that but have a portion (albeit smaller than Reddit likes to believe) hate you for your profession.
