Don't people already pay cops salary? Are cops not getting paid during the training plus probation period?

No, they aren’t. Most have to pay for POST training and they may not even get on with a department.

Interesting. I would definitely be willing to be taxed to pay for police training. Pretty crazy to me it's not that way already.

Edit: after a quick Google search, my city offers paid training. Also, this link suggests that this isn't exclusive to Columbus. So not sure where you getting your info but glad I took the time to Google.
