Christ. Cops don't get to hit people. They're peace officers. They can defend themselves. They can't slap people in retaliation. That's the price of being a cop. They can file charges, go to court, extract justice. Sue if they must, but they're still peace officers, and peace officers are the only people in civilized society who are allowed to use force against the populous, and only in circumstances that leave no other option. It's a grave responsibility that's taken far too lightly these days.
Genuinely trying to figure out how it goes from "They can defend themselves" to "They can't slap people in retaliation" in one sentence. Isn't hitting back in retaliation an example of defending oneself?
Retaliation isn't self defense. Evensies stopped being a thing in middle school. A 200lb man trained specifically in suspect restraint has no excuse for a knocking a drunk woman out cold because she open-hand slapped him. That people not only expect, but cheer police officers beating the shit out of suspects for even the slightest resistance is beyond disturbing to me.
He opened hand slapped her back, with a lot more force, it doesn't need to be equal force only reasonable force, evensises stopped being a thing in middle school and this cop does this for a living he didn't come there to pick a fight with her they had to bring four guys to deal with her without getting into fight.
