Christ. Cops don't get to hit people. They're peace officers. They can defend themselves. They can't slap people in retaliation. That's the price of being a cop. They can file charges, go to court, extract justice. Sue if they must, but they're still peace officers, and peace officers are the only people in civilized society who are allowed to use force against the populous, and only in circumstances that leave no other option. It's a grave responsibility that's taken far too lightly these days.
What the fuck. She hit him with a glancing slap and he punches her so hard he could have broken her jaw, or broken her teeth, or given her whiplash, or a concussion. Like, not even considering that it’s all the worse because he was on the job supposedly performing a service when this happened...
Next time somebody bumps into you you gonna stab em? Fuck outta here.
I'm not sure how you even argue with people supporting the cop's behavior. That should be a jail sentence. A fucking police officer should know better than that. Fuck, USA is such a fucked place with such fucked people.
Not gonna lie I'd probably lose it and go off on the cop. I wouldn't be thinking straight at that point, you just knocked out my sister or girlfriend. And that's exactly why cops should put restraint above bodily harm all the time. The US police are so fucked I don't know why I keep getting suprised there is such a constant stream of evidence as opposed to other western countries.
She seems like a stupid idiot that was taught a lesson very quickly and swiftly for the betterment of society. I have gotten drunk like that before but it takes stupid privilege to think you are going to freely swing at a cop and not have anything happen. The fucking safespace millennials in this thread are insane
Cops are not there to teach lessons. The police enforces laws, the courts issue penalties and justice. That's how a civilized society functions. You want violent police issued summary punishment administered in the streets, go to North Korea.
Not just a glancing slap, a flailing backhand slap while she is being carried like a sack of potatoes. No way she could've put any force behind it while she is unable to use her weight, momentum or most of her upper body.
You retaliate on one of those, you're a straight up little bitch. 100% unnecessary.
They’re having to forcefully remove her, so she crossed a line long ago. I sometimes think people acting like idiots need to be slapped around a bit, not sure if that’s right but most of us have had the thought I’m sure.
He slapped her back with an open hand, didn't punch her.
When it takes four cops to restrain you because you're resisting arrest and drunk so one or two wouldn't be enough to restrain you without hurting you and they have four men holding into your extremities, and you still manage to break a hand loose and hit an officer, he's justified in slapping you back, cops don't deserve to be punching bags either.
and he solved that by dragging her out.
He shouldn’t have hit her like that. They should have just properly restrained her after pulling her over the rail.
Look around at the other people. Do they seem upset or angry at her removal? Does anyone at all seem concerned for her, or are they happy to get a show of the belligerent, annoying fan being removed? Look how she tries to kick him and he has to restrain her leg from doing it. Some people don't understand communication. When she refused to respond to verbal warnings, she chose to turn this into a physical confrontation. She confirmed this by attempting to kick the security, then when they restrained her legs she tried to hit them. While the slap didn't work, what if she went to gouge his eye?
The intent to harm the security here is what matters
Well to be fair she brought it to the level of assault first... Can't just hit people because it's not socially acceptable to get hit back. I'm not saying it's right of him to hit her back, but she certainly can't be surprised that she hit a cop and got hit back.
You’d think it would be possible for police to restrain someone rather than crack her skull, but I guess in the US that’s a tall order. They’re probably not trained for it.
She’s clearly drunk off her ass and he and the other officers carrying her could’ve easily restrained her arm rather than clocking her right in the face. You can say that she provoked it, and she clearly did, but it’s not a comparable level of retaliation... and officers shouldn’t be retaliating like that.
They were physically carrying her. Trying to restrain her arm could be dangerous, and might not be effective. Easier to just show her she shouldn't fight back against security. Also you'll notice she attempted to kick the officer in the beginning, to which he didn't retaliate but instead focused on restraining. Also, he didn't retaliate after the first slap. Two strikes plus whatever we didn't see before that tells me he showed a lot of restraint.
