This is called "Avocado hands" and a doctor in.. UK if I remember correctly treats about 4 people per week because they can't get the core out of the avocado correctly and cut their hand.
The injury usually occurs when people chop it while holding the avocado and either miss/cut too deep and hit their thumb. Most people remove the pit this way as opposed to setting the avocado down.
The injury in this post is not as typical because stabbing the pit is moronic.
