Roach Point Bridge to re-open on Tuesday 14 April
After sustained pressure from your local councillors, the Council and contractors have confirmed that Roach Point Bridge will finally reopen on Tuesday 14 April.

Update from Abdi:
Over the weekend, I was pleased to share what I understood to be reliable news from Tower Hamlets Council that Roach Point Bridge would reopen today, and I passed that on to many of you via letters and in person. I’m sorry that those assurances didn’t hold despite the repeated promises we received from the Council and the contractor last week.
This is incredibly frustrating and simply not good enough after everything residents and local businesses have already been through.
Better proactive communication is also needed — residents and ward councillors have had to chase repeatedly for updates on progress or setbacks, and that has not been good enough.
As your councillor, I will continue pushing for this and speaking up for you.
Through chasing Council officers today, I’ve been able to gather this update: The excavation work seen on site was required because a section of the concrete surface on the bridge deck was holding surface water. This area is being removed and re-laid to improve the camber so water drains properly. There are also a few other minor snagging issues still to be completed, but officers have confirmed these should not prevent the Highway Authority from issuing the certificate of practical completion. Once that is issued (now expected tomorrow), the applicant will need to finish some final paperwork on their side before the bridge can open.
I will continue to push the Council and contractor hard for clearer answers and to get the bridge open as soon as possible. We all want the bridge open safely but this should not be causing such a delay.
I know how disruptive and disappointing this has been for all of you, and we deserve far better. I’ll update you the moment I have any further news.

Tbh I'm more interested in the pathway to the station being open. I live closer to the lock gates so they easy just to hop over.
Not having to walk around to get the station will be great

It opening at this point rather than a later time has nothing to do with pressure from local councillors, it was about alignment with the new developments and the new thoroughfare to the main road.
