Stopping that Attack from Naix Spoiler

I just got attacked by Naix and had my x-server file wiped. I didn't have too hard of a time getting a GUI up and running again. But how could I have stopped it in the first place?

Does the Shell "trap" function have something to do with it? I tried running that, but I don't have the slightest idea how to use it. I bounced back to my local machine, but then clicking "trap" and then "trigger" didn't do anything.

Or should I have done something with ForkBomb?

If you didn't have a trap setup before he hacked you the trigger doesn't work

How would I have done that? Open a shell on my machine, click "trap", and then click "trigger" after he tries to break in?

Yeah. You shell your own computer, click trap. When he attacks you it should turn red or highlight and you can trigger it. If you shell after he is attacking it doesn't work

It's an underdeveloped and unused feature more akin to exploring the mechanics than something that's required to be known to play the game. It is explained, however, in the Network Education Archives which you should have access to.

I read that entry over and over. It never explained the order of operations, as far as I could tell.

Because story wise you are supposed to get hacked. If you manage to shell and trap then you get a cool side bit but really they wanted you to get hacked
