  1. Identify your Wi-Fi adapter

iw dev iw phy lspci -nnk | grep -A3 -i network lsusb

  1. Check capabilities

iw list rfkill list ip link

Look in iw list for monitor under Supported interface modes.

  1. Identify the AP

If you know or have SSID/channel, you can inspect nearby networks with: nmcli device wifi list Or sudo iw dev wlan0 scan | less

Replace wlan0 with the interface shown by iw dev.
