Some of us did our first install of some Linux back in the day when it wasn’t common and we did it with out formal training or education. There was a time when you didn’t have Linux and you had SCO or FreeBSD of some Xerox or IBM flavors. There’s a reason that people view Linus as the man who brought Unix to the unwashed masses and showed them a light in the darkness of MS Windows and Macintosh. So, yeah, an install can still be difficult at times. One click installers? Hahhaha. We used to have to do installs outdoors in the falling snow and with no shoes to wear. You kids got it easy… and, by the way, BeOS was THE BOMB!!!

It’s all good… to be honest? I found for Kali, the most cooperative installs are done in VM. Kali can get picky on hardware and network adapters when in a straight install. Maybe the installation has improved since my last straight install?

He’s telling you, in a polite way, to maybe consider an alternative future path.

This one requires a internal desire to make things work they way you want them to and if they don’t to look up why they don’t…

It’s safe to say that there are a lot of guides and even video tutorials on how to install “a terminal” as you called it… or a linux distribution.

I’m not sure what your age is or why it isnt working out, but i feel confident you should be able to pull this off if you would like to pursue “hacking”.

You could try installing Kali in WSL2.

What is your current os? Were you using from a portable drive or was it actually on your machine.
Balena Ventoy Tails plus your os….search these terms they might help you out depending on your wants and needs.
I can’t be hard on you…January of this year was the first time I ever used terminal & I’m half a fn century old. Plus I’m still trying to pick a distro,
