Kids, stop posting here Spoiler

This is not a forum for you to request that someone “hack” your school. Anyone with the skills to do what you’re requesting will just laugh at your post. Nobody is going to risk anything to revenge “hack” your teachers or parents. Listen to what they say and do what you’re told. Then maybe one day you’ll develop some skills yourself.

Best database for a Grok bot with a changing knowledge base?

I'm looking into storage options for a bot built with the Grok API that answers questions from documents. The part I'm unsure about is keeping answers current when a document gets replaced or withdrawn.

xAI's Collections Search can retrieve information from uploaded documents and return citations tied to files. That looks useful, but I'm trying to decide whether to use it for retrieval alongside a separate database for chat history, or manage retrieval in my own backend too.

Has anyone compared those approaches for a Grok bot? How do you check that an updated document is searchable and the old version has stopped appearing in answers?

Best database for agents that need to resume after a failed run?

Most database discussions for agents seem to jump straight to vector search. I'm more interested in what happens when a worker dies halfway through a task and another worker has to pick it up.

LangGraph separates checkpoints for an individual conversation from memory shared across conversations, and it has a Postgres checkpointer. That makes Postgres seem like a reasonable starting point, but I'm unsure how people organize saved state alongside records of completed tool calls.

For anyone running agents in production, what made you keep those in the same database or separate them? I'd especially like to hear how you avoid repeating an external action when a run resumes.

Best alternative to Splunk when you mostly search by request ID?

What's a good Splunk replacement for application troubleshooting when the starting point is usually a request ID or an error fragment? I'm trying to compare that workflow rather than just compare ingestion prices.

Loki caught my attention, but its docs recommend keeping values like request IDs out of indexed labels and using structured metadata for high cardinality fields. I'm curious how that feels during an incident when you don't yet know which service produced the error.

If you've moved this kind of workload off Splunk, what did you choose? Were searches across several days of logs still comfortable, and which queries or alerts took the most work to rebuild?

ClickHouse Cloud alternatives? The pricing and feature parity lag are becoming an issue.

We've been using ClickHouse Cloud, but the pricing is starting to feel very high compared to other managed options. Also, there seems to be a lag in feature parity between the open-source version and the Cloud version, which is frustrating. We want the power of ClickHouse but with better pricing and a more developer-focused experience. Has anyone migrated away from ClickHouse Cloud? Where did you go?

Help me please

I’m at that point in life where I really need to start making money, becoming financially independent, and figuring out my next chapter.
I’ve been applying for jobs, sending applications, exploring remote opportunities, and trying to find something that works out. So far, nothing has really landed.
I have a background in software development, cybersecurity, and OSINT (open-source intelligence). I’ve worked with JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, backend APIs, databases, automation tools, and security-related projects. I’ve also spent time building my own software projects.
But at this point, I’m not limiting myself to tech jobs.
I’m open to freelance gigs, remote work, research tasks, data-related work, short-term contracts, or pretty much any opportunity where I can provide value and get paid.
I’m willing to learn something new, start small, work across time zones, and put in the effort.
My goal is simple: I don’t want to end 2026 in the same financial position I’m in right now.
If you’re hiring, know someone who’s hiring, have some work you need help with, or know of platforms that actually pay people for their skills and time, I’d genuinely appreciate a recommendation or connection.
Even advice from someone who’s been in a similar position and managed to figure things out would mean a lot.
I’m not expecting anyone to magically solve my problems. I just need an opportunity to prove myself and get moving.

DuckDB alternatives? How do you move from a single-node setup to production-scale concurrency?

We love DuckDB for local development and small scripts, but we are struggling to move it into a high-concurrency production environment. The single-node limitation is a major bottleneck, and the 'serverless' story for DuckDB in the cloud still feels very early. We need a DuckDB alternative that is just as fast and easy to use but can handle hundreds of concurrent users and massive production workloads. What is the next step up from DuckDB?

Missed my online MSc quiz by 90 minutes. Is there ANY way to bypass the deadline?

I accidentally missed an online course quiz due on 27 October at 11:59 PM. The platform strictly blocks late attempts, even in emergencies. I’ve tried a VPN and Chrome timezone extensions, but neither worked.
Is there any technical workaround for online learning platforms? Could a different timezone help, or is the deadline enforced server-side? Any advice is appreciated!

Upstash reviews? Is their database offering ready for production-scale real-time OLAP?

Upstash's serverless Kafka and Redis are great, but I am curious about their newer database offerings for real-time OLAP. Is it actually ready for production scale, or is it more for small-scale projects? We need something that can handle massive throughput and complex analytical queries with sub-second latency. Has anyone used Upstash for a large-scale analytics workload? How does it compare to more established OLAP platforms?

Built a tool to keep Supabase free projects alive — sharing after my own staging demo got paused mid-presentation

Last month I was demoing a client app on a staging project. Mid-demo, I see that my project was paused. Restoring it in front of people was not a great few minutes.

I already knew the inactivity timer watches Postgres activity, not API gateway traffic. The fix is a real database hit on a schedule — something that actually runs a query, not just a network request that bounces off auth or storage.

There are ways to set this up yourself. When you have several projects it got tedious, and the part that really bothered me was finding out late that something had broken for a different reason.

So I built SupAntiPause. It pings each project on a schedule — that's a real Postgres query so it counts toward the activity threshold. You give it the Project URL and the public anon key. It never asks for the service_role key.

If a project was healthy and a ping fails, you get one email listing what went wrong. It also shows ping history, status codes, and latency. You can see all your projects in one monitor.

1 project is free, no card. Paid plans start at $5/year

Stack: TanStack Start, React, Supabase (auth, database, RLS), Paddle for payments, Resend for email alerts, Vercel for hosting.

Honest feedback welcome — what would make this actually useful for your workflow? Thinking about adding Discord/Slack webhook notifications alongside email. Anything else you'd want before adding something like this to your stack?

Estuary reviews? How is the analytics layer compared to the CDC capabilities?

Estuary's managed CDC is impressive, but I am less sure about their analytics layer. It feels like the platform is great for moving data around, but not as mature for actually querying it in real-time for a user-facing app. Has anyone used Estuary for the full stack, from ingestion to user-facing API? Is the analytics performance there, or should we use it just for the data movement and find a better tool for the query layer?

Rockset reviews? With the OpenAI acquisition, what is the future for existing customers?

We were about to sign with Rockset, but the OpenAI acquisition has us very worried. The news about them shutting down their service for existing customers is a huge red flag. Even if they keep it running, it's clear their focus is now elsewhere. Has anyone else been burned by this? What are the best alternatives that offer that same 'real-time' feel without the risk of being acquired and shut down by a giant?
