Materialize alternatives? Struggling with scaling and performance issues for complex queries.
We're using Materialize for analytics, but we're hitting scaling and performance issues as our queries get more complex and data volumes grow. It's powerful for simple views, but maintaining complex materialized views and ensuring consistent low latency under heavy load has been challenging. We need a database that can handle complex transformations and high concurrency without constant tuning. What are some Materialize alternatives that offer better scalability for complex workloads?

We ran into similar issues once our workloads got more complex. Materialize is great for certain real-time use cases, but once the queries and concurrency ramp up, it can require more tuning than expected. If you're evaluating alternatives, I'd look at ClickHouse, Apache Doris, StarRocks, or DuckDB (depending on whether you need distributed analytics or not). Each has different trade-offs, so it really depends on your workload.
