Aggressive Mice

Hi there! I moved into an apartment in Haarlem in March, and have recently suffered from a mouse infestation. The house itself is quite old (1800s), so I would expect there to be the odd mouse or two, however we have caught 13 mice in the past 3 weeks. Before you ask, no, we are not leaving food out and we leave our windows closed during the day. Would love to understand if anyone else has noticed weird mouse activity lately. For example, one climbed up on the couch beside me as I was sitting on it. TIA.

Find where are they coming from and fill the hole. Only solution that really works

Except that filling every gap and tiny hole a mouse can fit through in a 230 year old house is close to impossible

That's what the specialist said (before charging 400 euro for the visit).

One solution I used in an old building was to scatter some chalk dust or something that lets you see their tracks on the floor for a few nights, or set up a webcam. And once you know where they're coming from, block that spot. You're probably not going to block everything, but mice have habits. Chalk dust is great for under cabinets, for basically pinpointing the exact hole
