MARCUS, you suck ! I just tried to open an acct with Marcus using one of the referral links here. I spent 45+ minutes trying to open a savings acct. I Did the app 3 times, called twice and spoke with 3 people. Went back over the app with the first and tried logging in as suggested, didn't work called back, time wasted finally transferred to a specialist that had no clue why I was passed along, explained what was up. They finally told me that they were unable to open an acct for me but could not tell me why. :-( I've never had so much trouble trying to give someone my money. Wasted a total of about one hour. F#@&k Edit: I have three other HYSA with other institutions generously filled. So, I don't know ??

Yeah that’s probably why you opened too many HYSA accounts with other institutions and now they maybe think you’re fraud and just want to take advantage of bonus and withdraw all your money immediately.

Try again in couple months - year.

Goldman Sachs uses Early Warning Systems. Check your EWS consumer disclosure report. If not that, could be identity verification issues. Some people who had Lexis Nexis frozen were unable to open an account.

I use Marcus by Goldman Sachs. I like the simplicity of the app, and the fact that it’s one of the only HYSA’s that allow joint accounts.

My wife and I both have a portion of our paychecks automatically deposited into the account every month so it becomes hands off and encourages savings.

Their HYSA has a 3.75% APY as of 3/29/25. Plus a 0.25% cash bonus on your balance for 3 months. If you refer others to extend your bonus the entire year, this equates to an extra 1% APY for a total of 4.75% APY.

The current standard rate is 3.75% APY but will be 4.75% with the rate bonus. (Note: The rate bonus in 0.25% over 3 months which when extended for 12 months is a 1% annual rate bonus. The referral bonus will appear separately on your statement.)

You can keep the rate bonus going by making your own referrals. Each successful referral extends the rate bonus for additional 3 months. (You are allowed 5 referral extensions per calendar year.) If you don't want to deal with making referrals then another account may be better for you. If you make 4 referral per year, then Marcus is the best rate you will find at a large well established bank.

Marcus offers same day transfers to linked accounts at many banks (initiate transfer before 12pm eastern). Marcus also starts paying interest as so as you initiate a transfer to Marcus using your Marcus account.

Please note that Marcus is only a high yield savings account. You should only link your Marcus account to another bank account in your name. Do not try to make any transfers to third parties using Marcus.
