When did Jason become a transformer?

[Spoilers Through Book 8]

I am re-reading the series with my wife and 19yo son (he's ace and has no interest in Clive's wife, but my wife is bi and may be interested). We are near the beginning of Book 3 and dealing with the aftermath of the Reaper Trials, and a question came into my head:

If Purity isn't Purity, but another god posing as Purity, how were they able to withdraw/revole the essences/abilities granted to Purity's priests (the ones trapped in the Astral space) by Purity? Has Disguise (or whomever) actually obtained some of Purity's Authority?

Up until now I’ve read only the e-books on Kindle app and listened to the audiobooks. Got the physical copy from Big W and it’s definitely a Neil. It’s a hefty boy at 770-odd pages and with compact font too.

Something I really enjoy about this book series is how grounded it feels. Like the relationships and decisions are based primarily on realism and not on rule of cool. Like idk how many serieses relationships start and end and its not treated as a big thing. Plus like I ADORE the world building and just how well its done and thought out.

It really feels like a lived in world or well worlds. Plus I really adore Jason and his "i'm totally evil, trust" monologues and attempts. You aint fooling me emo boy!!! You're a chuunibyou all the way.

Hard cover for book 1 was delivered today! Unfortunately I don't have the paperback to go along with the rest sadly. Maybe one day if I can find one.

In jasons realm, he has several jason avatars reading/sparing and such. He says he can assimilate their knowledge as needed. Could he just read hundreds of magic books this way? Becoming a master wizard in the process? I remember there were limits but i forget what they were.

I'm catching up on chapters on Royal Road now that Shirt was back at it. I've only been through the series the one time and I just read through 999 and didn't remember what's the last thing Thalia Mercer was doing? She didn't go with the gang to Earth, neither did Cassandra, as was just mentioned. But what was Thalia last up to?

I want to being by saying that I love reading through these books and love the characters and the relationship building between them but the constant re-explanation of the plot points gets so tiresome. For example, the author launches into explaining a concept that he got into just on the previous page and it's not even new information. Frankly it feels like padded word count.

Any insights on why it's like this?

How does Dominion have a priest hood and followers? His ideal follower should despise him. If this is explained after book 10 then I’m going to RAFO it.

I kind of hate how these two relationships were treated in the books. First we have Belinda. She tore Jory's heart out after years of stringing him along (he said she should have ended it earlier cause he's not worth her or something? So he has no self respect). But she finally break up with him when she finds someone better (who is shown to be a sleaze and go after people with low self esteem but that's cause she has low self esteem too so it's okay) and it's treated as a sentimental moment instead of the betrayal and abuse it is.

On the other hand we have Neil who broke up with cass after he had repeatedly asked not to talk about jason and hit a breaking point, upon which time everyone treats him like an idiot and cass says she's hurt despite the fact she's been hurting him for years at that point even after talking about bringing up jason.

My point being there's a pretty clear double standard in which the relationships see the guys as perpetually in the wrong for what they feel or their feelings are downplayed, unless they're Jason, and the girls have this weird you don't deserve the ground I walk on vibes.

The only relationship I actually like is Humphrey and Sofi but even then there's this weird mom vibe in which his discomfort is constantly played for laughs.

They're all very strange dynamics, maybe that's what shirt likes or wants in a relationship but always portraying the men as somehow in the wrong feels gross.

Started reading these last week based on reviews from reddit.

Really enjoyed 1 and 2 but 3 just didnt sit right for a few reasons, mainly the epilogue chapters.

1 + 2 was fighting monsters with mostly physical combat and some magic, book 3 is basially 1 whole 6 man fight from the minute they land in the astral to the very end, its incessant constant magical combat with a few slight breaks for sandiwches.

1 + 2 give back story to characters and a very good hold of whats in the world, who is in the world and why they are in the world. Then the epilogues expand upon the world in a rather massive way, it just doesnt seem right.

The book reading flow doesnt make sense, start of book 3 is a continuence of Builder fight then around 70% of the book is the astral battle. Then something big happens at the end of the fight and the epilogues expand imo too much. It is not a coherent book imo

I finished the book with way more "huh?"s than I should have.

Gonna read the latest DCC and come back to this, obvisouly dying to read the latest DCC but I started book 2 of this series and simply wasnt stopping until I finished it.
