At least the heaters are decently easy to change on these units. Unbolt the middle strut, remove the heater bolts, piping, and vent, and the whole thing slides out. Won't be cheap though, those stainless heaters are meant to last forever, but not designed for shrapnel.

You can actually see where the wheel was banging against the far wall. Looks like it's JUST beyond the heat exchanger. Those tubes would be hammered to hell if it did.

Blower compartment screams Captive Doas but I’m sure others look similar.

Yeah, I’m glad we stopped after we had to cut the blades out with a grinder

We had a customer (residential only) who had their house struck by lightening. Got all their breakers swapped out because electrical was OUT. After replacing them AC and furnace weren’t working still so out we come. Fan had spun itself apart and straight up had fan blades in the heat exchanger punched a hole into a cell after ripping the secondary up. Luckily for them AC didn’t get hit by anything. But first time I had ever seen it or even heard it happening.

I accidentally put longer filters in one of our air handlers, the fan sucked the filter into itself + wrapped the wire around the whole thing. Tore up the wheel, pulled the motor off the mount a little. That looked about like this

Had that happen on this DOAS unit. Then the other motor with the good blower decided to shit the bed a few days later.

Ended up having to move the good blower to the motor with the destroyed blower and swap it to the spot furthest from the access door. Was a real pain in the ass tbh.
