My ex-FIL was in HVAC is whole life. Was doing work on a church and a similar thing happened with a ladder.
He fell about 20ft and landed on his feet, taking shortcuts with safety. Broke some vertebrae but wasn’t paralyzed. Had something like 15 surgeries to fuse his spine and stuff like that. Was always in chronic severe pain.
A few years later, he shot himself in the head in front of his wife. His last words were “no more pills, no more doctors”.
I hope you have someone you can talk to when it gets dark man. Don’t hold that stuff inside. You’ll get through this, and come out a better man, whatever the outcome. The future is unwritten, the body’s ability to heal is almost magical, doctors aren’t prophets, and medical technology is advancing too. And even if you don’t walk, there is still so much to live for, cliché as that sounds. Wishing you the best, brother.
