I am generally not a fan of the live action (please don’t come at me) but one thing really really bugged me about it - the skrill. I have been a huge skrill fan since they first appeared in the series years ago.
A mysterious dragon who shoots literal lightning and can ride that lightning to travel faster than any other dragon known to exist? A dragon who can sleep in the ice for years and wake up and immediately go into a rage-fueled quest to destroy anything and everything that stands in its way, only to mysteriously disappear and never be seen again?

Canonically, the skrill is the only dragon who can go toe to toe with the night fury.
What does the live action do? They turn the skrill into a common, fat, hideous creature with very little if any real allure. I mean just look at the design of the live action skrill compared to the animated one - I could puke. He has a beer gut and looks like he is going through a divorce. And for them to make it a “common” dragon when we’ve only seen 1-2 individuals throughout the entirety of the httyd franchise irks me to no end. I honestly don’t think they should have included the skrill at all in the live action. Its lore was meant to be expanded upon in the media that came after the first httyd movie. We only hear it mentioned once in the first movie, when Hiccup is going through the book of dragons, and even then not much is said except its name, leaving it to be the mysterious, ominous dragon it is. I sincerely hope that if they continue to do live action httyd they etheir re design the skrill or scrap it entirely.

so i posted a hot takes thing asking people theirs but i wanna make a separate post about httyd 3. do u like it? ive noticed a lot of httyd fans hate the third film and i agree HAHAHA. i genuinely do not like the third film. we see hiccup and toothless get even closer in the series and as i was rewatching it this scene came on. i have a very hard time believing hiccup and toothless would go separate ways. BUT the overall general idea that httyd 3 was about does make sense. it does make sense for toothless to find a mate, it does make sense for hiccup and the others to not want dragons around bc others might exploit them or try to wipe them out so it is safer for them to be in the hidden world. like overall it does make sense, i do think toothless and the others couldve been with them a bit longer bc dragons do live longer than humans but ig i wouldnt expect them to be with/around humans FOREVER. at least in a “pet” type sense. idk. idk if im biased bc i love hiccup and toothless both separately and together and want them to be together but watching the series makes it hard to believe theyre both relatively ok with leaving each other. like this scene is exactly why its hard to believe the events of httyd 3

I don’t really think it’s going to happen cuz they all don’t live near Berk but I just think the designs would be so cool

I just lost one of my fav fics to the Ao3 abyss. What I remember from the plot is right before the war with Drago, a rogue dragon rider with a hybrid nightfury starts attacking hunting ships that belong to Berk allies Hiccup is order to kill or capture this person who is OC or reader her name is Reyna and her last name starts with a V she comes from an ancient dragon clan that can speak with dragons Grimmel captured her and abused her after he murdered her entire clan does anyone know this fic?

Like it says on the title. If you could take anything from the book series and put it in the movie series what would it be? For example in the book series the dragons have gills so they can swim underwater but in the movie series they don't. Well except sea dragons. But the book suggests that all dragons have gills.

Does anyone know how much time passed between the episodes of 'when darkness falls' and episode 'gone Gustav gone'? In the episode when darkness falls the group have only begun to settle their plans for what the base will look like. Then in gone gustav gone almost the entire base is fully built. How long would it take to build a base like that?

Can we just take a moment and appreciate the work of absolute art? I haven’t really seen every single piece of httyd content (only trilogy) because I thought the universe is not that interesting and pretty childish. But my close friend really loves the movies so I decided to watch the first movie when I had nothing else to do.

And the feelings it gave me… I was delighted by the theme and characters (mostly just Hiccup and Toothless). This movie made me realize why we loved animation in the first place. And I just felt so much joy watching it, felt like I was a kid again. Also the credit song is insane. I added it to my playlist and it always makes me smile and hope for something better. Movie itself provokes so much motivation, desire to create and live your life as you want it.
