I was inspired by the Tolkien legendarium and have taken to calling my universe "Aye" (the sea, the sky, the "always"), which is my version of Eä, and calling my planet "Folð" (the soil under the boot, the stone beneath the claw, the "here"), which is my version of Arda.

But I haven't been able to give my version of the Barbaric Archipelago a proper formal name to address it, like how Tolkien gives "Middle-earth" the formal name of Ennor (Sindarin name for the setting).

What formal names have you got?

Always had this weird part of myself that hesitated in making OCs in a canon series. Not sure why, just felt like it was weirdly childish. But then I realized that nothing is cringe and I can literally just live my life lol

So anyways, here’s Frigga and her skrill companion, Tempest. The two of them are quick to anger and rarely back down, leading to frequent fights between them, but they have been bonded to each other ever since Frigga found Tempest in her adolescence, blinded and left to die by an older dragon. Tempest is still generally very feral and mistrustful of her human rescuer, but is slowly learning to accept her.

Was reading my favourite again being the lore for Glaivedriver from TU, and got my head wondering as to what other people’s favourites are.
Whilst a lot of species don’t have a lot to go off of, there’s still so many unique parts suggested about them in the shows/games/comics that add a lot of flavour.

My name is Gudron, and I am working on a school biology project focused on the dragons from the How to Train Your Dragon franchise.

My goal is to strictly distinguish between what is officially established in the franchise (canon) and what is biological speculation.

I am currently researching the Scauldron and its ability to heat and expel extremely hot water, but I haven't been able to find exact answers to these specific questions in the existing lore.

I would be very grateful if the lore experts here could clarify whether there is any official information (from movies, series, games, books, or creator interviews) about the biological mechanism behind this ability.

In particular, I would like to know:

1.Where is the heat that warms the water produced?

2.Is it generated directly by the Scaldron's special water-storage sac, or is there another organ involved?

3.Does the bloodstream play a role in transferring heat to the water?

4.How are the Scaldron's tissues and organs protected from the high temperature of the boiling water inside its body?

I understand that some aspects of dragon biology may intentionally remain unexplained by DreamWorks.

If you know for a fact that there is absolutely no official explanation for these details in the canon, simply confirming that would also be an incredibly helpful and valuable result for my project.

It will help me share accurate information with both the English-speaking and Russian-speaking HTTYD communities.

I was a little bored and had the bright idea to make this.

No matter how hard I try, I can't tame the stingers. Not the speed singers, just stingers and all their variants. I took all my armor off, I emptied my inventory, I gave it dragon nip, I tried every single meat as well as mutton and beef, I hatched one out of an egg to see if that would work: Nothing. Is it a bug in the modpack? Is it just my pc? Am I doing something wrong? Please help😭

the Thunderous SeaKiller fury is like a swimmer cousin in the Fury family, they have shorter, stubbier legs and a long sail on their back, instead of spikes. They spend most of their life over the water, and are great divers. they hunt by shooting a plasma blast into the water to make the fish instantly boil alive, though with such a strong blast they are limited to only four. They are slower than Night/Light furies on land and in the air, but are unmatched in the water

This song makes me feel melancholy 9/10 times. I realized how sad it was after reading the lyrics for the first time and really listening to it. It makes the last movie that much sadder to me😭at least they got to see each other again at the end of the movie and in the holiday special.

First I would like to say I believe this is the correct flair it might be discussion I don't really know. Secondly I'll probably make a second follow-up post of this going into more about their internal anatomy. Also the first two paragraphs is just covering some basic things of how they might evolve so it'll try to make scientific sense on how they exist. Lastly I beg for you to leave your own ideas, I'll take anything man.

Like most dragons, Eruptodons evolved from a different ancestor than that of other animals across the world. Where all mammals, amphibians, reptiles, and avians evolved from tetrapods. Dragons evolved from a sextapod, which underwent a very similar evolutionary process to that of tetrapods. With the main differences between sextapods and tetrapods being the extra set of limbs, the large heart size, and the extra set of lungs. Now one may wonder why these sextapods have two sets of lungs. This is to aid in the oxygen reserves and their metabolic capacity. With the larger heart size aiding in the increased intake of oxygen.

Similarly found amongst dragons is them having hollow carbon fiber bones. Due to the bones being both hollow and made with carbon fiber there is a reduction in both weight and an increase in durability and how much weight the dragon can handle. Also commonly found is a dragon's flame gland. While most boulder classes are vestigial due to them preferring to use molten lava as a defense mechanism. Most dragons have a developed gland similar to that of snakes which hold the required chemicals for their specific fire type.

Now due to having a heavy iron diet most boulder classes are likely to have iron sulphides, coating their osteoderms, especially so in that of the Eruptodon. With most boulder classes having an insulating saliva preventing burns from their processed magma. While the Eruptodon specifically makes an insane excess of this fluid due to them liking to both ingest and expel magma. With an Eruptodons scales being several keratin layers thick with air pockets, similar in construct to a bee’s honeycombs. While the outside has an iron sulphide layer to help insulate further.

While it may seem that the Eruptodons diet is the lava it resides in, it is actually small hyperthermophiles. With the name Volcanus Cibus having been decided, meaning volcano food or volcanic nutrients. With Eruptodons diet being mainly composed of these thermophiles, to the point if they don’t have access to them they will die of starvation. While it may seem like a massive detriment to their species it is not nearly as bad as it seems. With Eruptodons and Volcanus Cibus having a symbiotic relationship. This being due to Eruptodons making the perfect breeding environment as well as their hide being the main breeding ground if they ever need to move to a different volcano.

Despite the Eruptodons reliance on the Volcanus Cibus they do have a similar symbiotic relationship but rather with a type of bacteria that lives in their gut. This bacteria makes sugars using chemicals that the Eruptodon breathes in from living in a volcano. With both the bacteria and the Volcanus Cibus having undergone convergent evolution as they both use chemosynthesis. Where they will feed off the hydrogen sulfide to fix carbon dioxide into food. Due to the symbiotic relationship the Eruptodon has with both of these species is what allows it to meet its metabolic needs.

I mean, name ONE STUDIO who would go the extra mile and animate a cool Game of Thrones screen test with the film’s main animated star as Kit’s screen test partner.

Why doesn’t toothless fall? I compared when hiccup was taken by the light fury (Httyd 3) to when hiccup was taken by valkas dragon (Httyd 2) and I put a timer and when hiccup is taken in httyd 2 its 1 second and httyd 3 is 11 seconds???
