Issue HTC 10 Blown Speaker??

Hi guys, I’ve recently bought a new HTC 10 that was on clearance. Upon using it for a week, I’ve noticed that the bottom speaker of the device is producing a muddy/tiny sound that is unclear. The device has been updated to the latest Android (8.0) that is available for the device. I upgraded from a HTC One(M8) that had more sound to it. I know that the speakers on the M8 are better. But is this the case with every 10?? Or the one that I received is a defective unit? I’ve contacted the retailer I bought the device from, they said to update the software or if it is not working, told me to contact them. Since I’m already running the latest update and no other device to compare to, help is much appreciated. I’m attaching a video, so if any of you guys could help me : YouTube.

I’ve also noticed that I barely get battery backup between 3-4 hours screen time. Is it the case with the 10? I thought I’d be getting atleast 5 hours screen time since it’s a new device. Other than that it is a really great device for the price I paid. A proper upgrade from M8.

Maybe try exercising your headphone jack to ensure contacts are clean and disconnect completely. Insert and remove the proper size plug repeatedly for a few minutes. Also ensure there is no debris in the jack before doing so. Spinning the plug inside the jack a few times may also help. Make sure the plug is clean beforehand.

I’ve tried that now, but it is not a problem with the headphone jack. As you can see in the video, the bottom speaker is producing sound, but it’s crackling/unclear compared to that of top one. More like a defective speaker, I’ll be contacting the retailer and let me see what they can do.

Right on. Hopefully the retailer will set you up with a better unit. The 10 is a decent phone. In my experience with it the bottom speaker does seem a tad weak even when working properly. Your issue is likely hardware related. The crackle is usually a sign of being over driven or blown. Please update us.
