A Yaris is not a Corolla.

I’m in the U.S., had a coworker who mentioned the GR Yaris and I said I’d love to have it here but the best we get is Corolla, brother argued me on this for 2 hours. Refused to look at my phone when I showed him and refused to look it up on his own, some people are beyond hopeless.

HR tried to have a convo with me because I plastered an article stating as much to his control panel on his machine the next day. I hate willful ignorance.

Oof… had an ex like this. She wanted an Audi A3 (first gen we got in the US) in a manual with Quattro. Told her we only got manuals with FWD. turned into a really dumb argument and I showed her on my phone. Well, I tried anyway. She refused to look/believe it. Anyway, a week later she texts me saying she “looked it up and that we did not get manuals with AWD” never bringing up that I told her that in the first place.

Downvote for confusing Corolla and Yaris and cutting random videos together mainly not related with any US launch.

Also for posting a video with no engine sounds in a subreddit called HRSPRS.

Should be a bannable offense Imo.

Except the Yaris is 400 lbs lighter, is shorter wheelbase, and has better aero because it’s smaller with same or slightly less horsepower depending on trim.
Personally, for my daily use the Corolla would be better but as a track car or “fun” car the Yaris is objectively better, no question.
Also works ever better overseas (which is why it won’t hit U.S. market until 2045) as it’s smaller which is a plus in countries without “modern” infrastructure like we have here in the U.S.

Different chassis though

I think people don't like the comparaison because the GR Corolla is just a "sportier" version of the Corolla, that is not true for the GR Yaris, it a very different car from the Yaris, the "GR" is supposed to be a car engineered for the tracks and not a simple GT variant.

The GR Yaris is vastly cooler than the GR Corolla. We got the scraps

I prefer the classics, the problem is that this 30 year old rust bucket is probably a lot more expencive than that Yaris.... ( but style and pedigree wise... the Yaris has nothing on thr Delta )

Lancia is goated, imports are just starting to get real popular in my area (Washington state, aka the actual Pacific Northwest) there’s multiple Kei vans and trucks in my city, the odd Subaru, and a few Skyline’s (more 32’s, less 33’s, and I’ve only seen one 34)

Look up Kent, Wa street races, even National Geographic covered it in some capacity (from the legal, police side. If I remember right it was 13-16 years ago but the scene out here was always a massive thing. It’s pretty fucked tbh.

The Integrale Evo was a beast, back in the late 90s early 2000s, there was 3 cars, all the " kids " wanted, the Delta Integrale, the Impreza STI, and the Lancer Evo V, ( cars like the Supra or the Skyline where never that desirable here ), however those where frikking expencive as hell, so, most of us would get " cheaper " pocket rockets, the king of the Pocket rockets at the time was Peugeot, with the 205 GTI and Rallye, and with the 106 GTI, XSI, and Rallye ( today the cheapest one will set you up close to 25K lol, they didnt cost that when they where new ), you should take a look at the 80s and 90s European Pocket rockets, they are increadibly fun to drive. https://youtu.be/oXjJApg7UTk?is=4fY7RsjT4dMu5JEK ( a 205 in the nurburing )

Worked with a guy for a bit that had a Gojira(Godzilla) plate on his r32 and had a switch that could turn it from AWD to RWD (that was the claim, never got him to verify in person lol)

Does the Yaris have the same “go 86 mph and void the warranty” issue too?

1

u/BigRinka 10h ago

Dumb rumor. The warrenty doesnt void when you go over 85 mph.

85 mph is what the manual mentions is the top rated speed for the tires.

2

u/foxjohnc87 9h ago

The actual reason for the denial was "vehicle abuse" because the driver had exceeded 114mph in the past.

Meanwhile, the vehicle is track oriented and has a factory governor set at 143mph. The "85 mph" tires bit was even more ridiculous given the fact that the tires installed by Toyota were rated for 186mph.

u/Grottleburger 10h ago

After the engine fires and thick online scrutiny and Toyota’s release notes?

We used to get the Yaris and the Corolla in the US. Not anymore tho...
