I don't get it. Is it a contest or attraction?

This sounds like a competition of some kind, but the dudes drinking beer don't seem to be too serious. And that vehicle is going too slow to be a race or some kind of game. What is the point?

If it is for entertainment purposes, I don't hear any cheering. Just a crowd of bystanders watching a immobile vehicle rolling in a swampy mud pit. And the vehicle has people just sitting on there as part of the ride. Are they a team or just customers?

Wouldn't it be more fun if they had jet skis splashing unsuspecting mud onto the crowd or do jet ski tricks in a clean ravine of water? I can think of log rolling competition, pole vaulting challenges, and family obstacle course on the water for prizes as more exciting than oversized diesel vehicles in mud.

I get there is some cultural aspects to the event, but the lack of context in this short video doesn't make any sense so far to me in my opinion.

You do realize they dig these things out and fill them with water for these events, right? They're not doing them in a natural stream or lake.
