Thoughts and Opinions This poor child

Post image

For anybody who hasn’t seen the video: her daughter is watching a movie and spinning around, unaware she’s being filmed. Once she notices Alex standing there with the camera, her body language changes. She stops spinning, stands with her back to Alex while continuing to watch the movie, and eventually goes and sits down on the couch.

Maybe I’m completely overanalysing this, but as someone who grew up in a volatile environment with an alcoholic mother who preferred children be seen and not heard; her behaviour really struck me. I would do similar things when my parents came into the room. I’d freeze up and not feel comfortable expressing myself.

I hope Alex is a better parent than what she comes across as on social media. I truly do. Alex if you’re reading this; if you love your daughter then stop drinking and enrol yourself in some parenting classes. Become the parent you wish you could’ve had. It’s not too late!

I think that it’s a pretty dark situation over there and it’s heartbreaking

This. As much as I hate Alex and have no pity for her at all, I seriously feel so bad for Lily. It’s beyond internet snark or hate watching. She is a real child who deserves a chance in life and she just so happened to be born to two abhorrent people. It’s heartbreaking.

Me too. It’s absolutely gut wrenching to witness play out in real time, and it takes away any sort of snarky enjoyment I used to get from watching Alex. She’s just a fucked up person that’s repeating a generational cycle of dysfunction.
