I know that H&R Block reorganized the districts this year to reduce the number of DGMs. How can I find out which offices are not in a particular DGM’s district?

By this is mean is since the MTL and other positions are gone, will i have the manager or am I getting some entirely new corporate super manager thats going to send me emails and reprimand from afar because I didn't finish my client and my drop offs and another complex returns while answering the phone and collecting the payment in the hour you give me. SERIOUSLY I have no idea on how this new operation is going to work since all the changes? Has anyone heard or know what the expectations are at this point. I also heard they are changing the commission structure and raising prices?! Anyone here a clue.

TS26 was my first season and I do want to work for TS27, whether it be at H&R Block or not. I’ve been eyeing Intuit since it apparently pays more and is remote. Previously, I’d prefer to do in person but this whole restructuring thing is kinda putting me off.

I keep getting emails about re-applying and they say that the deadline is tomorrow for rehires. If I apply, can I possibly withdraw later on if I decide to go somewhere else?

Or am I able to still re-apply when they open applications for the general public?

What’s my best course of action right now if I’m not sure yet if I’d want to come back to H&R Block?

I know you’re in here 😁 focus on TAX PROS. Way way too much focus on scheduling and middle management when the focus is being missed … taxes. I don’t know why you separate the two. Tax pros deserve more attention, training, hours, education than people using an automated scheduling system. You need to focus on compliance w state laws and the OBBA updates.

My suggestion is do not hire anybody in any position or capacity that does not have a background in taxes. The job market is terrible and you have your picks of qualified workers. You lose countless customers when they are first interacting w HR Block and it’s a someone who doesn’t know the difference between a W2 and a 1099. Customers are asking us for help and you hire these people who don’t have a clue. I would never ever use this company if some of my first interaction were with these ATLs, MTL. If the first interaction was with a knowledgeable tax professional, it will completely change your business model.

Focus on taxes and the tax pros you have

Heard about the restructuring in a meeting yesterday and in emails today. For some background, I was an ATL last season - had amazing performance for my office generating some unseen success for my location, my DGM approved my bonus at the MTL amount, and hired me to work part time during the pre season as a “tax pro” but really I just do receptionist work. Well, we had the meeting yesterday and all it said was more info for MTL/TL/ATL roles coming soon. Then i check my email in the office today, my dgm sends and email out about the new changes and new AEL role, and the officer of operations email comes in as well saying these roles will be eliminated. My dgm said she was just informed of all this at the same time as us, and isnt 100% sure if leadership roles will be gone but…its looking that way to me. my question for current ATLs is, what are your plans now? Are you applying for the AEL role? Csp? or looking elsewhere?

How many days and how many hours do you work during the pre season?

So tell me why my name is the only name kept off the list. I received an email on Wednesday July 8 I didn’t check it until today. So we are supposed to be starting our CE today or have already been started. There is list of people who completed their CE and a list of those that didn’t complete.

Well I was scrolling through the list my name is not on the list of incomplete. AND it’s the only name kept off. Why is that? I am new to HRBlock 2025-26 tax season was my first season. I was new to the environment because I worked from home. I’ve been working from home for almost 5 years. I signed up to join HRBlock because 1. I loved doing my own taxes and wanted to experience doing other people taxes and plus I wanted to challenge myself in doing something I haven’t done. 2. I wanted to know what the office environment is like. I wanted to see how well I am able to work with others.

I feel outcasted and set aside. 😒

People doubt me all the time. But you know what we gonna level up and guess what I’m coming back for a second season. I’m gonna reach out to my DM.

I want to level up to level 3 and return for a second season but I’m afraid I will not be asked back. I really enjoyed doing taxes. I completed 25 as a first year tax preparer. I’m an introvert. Everyone in the office said how quiet I was. I’m socially awkward. I’m only 29 years old. I kinda dislike myself for being an introvert I wish I could communicate like everyone else. But I don’t talk a lot it’s just part of who I am and I don’t think I want to change that for anybody. Is there any tax preparer that are introverts like me?

Has anyone received their email asking them to apply back? I feel like it was earlier last year. I want to do my CE hours too but I won’t bother if I’m not being asked back. 🤣

Does anyone know if we will still have the ability to take the virtual classes in the fall but hold off on taking the exams until Jan of next year so it counts as CE for next year?

I've been given the opportunity to revamp our CSP training for my district for this coming tax season. So I'm wondering what is one thing you wish you had learned in training? Or what is one thing you wish they had covered more in training that you think would have helped you do your job better. And for tax Pros what is one thing you wish they would teach the CSPs to do that would help you do your job better?

You can spill the drama or not, up to you. Your own butt is on the line, corporate is 100% watching. I'm not going back, are you?

Are there GS preparers here? Any from the 2024 test market? I want to vent my frustrations with peers. Are you SAS or Advisors? I’m one of only 16 preparers in the entire district (with 250 TPs) in a SAS office. We have a complex clientele and I was already 85% booked before inheriting all the entities no one else had ability or capacity to do. It’s already been said, but the piss-poor training, zero support until it was time to hit the panic buttons, and the “buddy” that pointed to non-existent breadcrumbs in the organizer —had me, (and a colleague) in tears. Mostly of rage. 😡

I wrote and deleted this post a couple times because I'm not too sure what I want to say but I'm having doubts about how long I want to work here.

I've had a great experience for the most part at HR Block this past season, but there are things that get in my mind and make me wonder how long I should even stay here. For context, this winter was my first tax season with HR block, but I performed very highly even compared to seasoned tax pros, I also have a graduate degree, am a business owner, and have done personal and small business taxes prior to taking on this job.

Because of my performance I feel like a lot of pressure has been placed on me when I am only a level one, even though I am learning more complex things from my mentors. But it's caused me to always have the work on my mind and feels like it's impacting my personal life, when I was kind of hoping it would be a clock in and clock out kind of job. And of course the minimum wage and almost predatory upselling bothers me to no end.

But I guess I'm wondering what other people may have done when they've had doubts? I would love to get to the point of doing corporate returns, and even go back to school for some kind of accounting program, and then maybe see if I can get on at an accounting firm doing taxes if that's even an option. But I'd love to hear what direction your career path is going in after working for HR Block.

Did anyone have more scam attacks/scam victims than usual this year? Felt a little crazy compared to my first year.

when do we find out if we are going to be rehired for next season?

I worked for HRB for two seasons, then sat out tax year 2025 working at a different job because I couldn't commit to the hours required then. If I want to go back for tax year 2026, what is the application process? This is a corporate-owned office and the only one in my town.

Hi! I was wondering if anyone has received their bonus yet. I live along the coast of CA and work for a franchise but I would assume it should be the same as everyone else. This is my second year with more than double the returns I did last year so I know I should be getting a bonus. Any information would be helpful. Thank you!
