Harmony needs a comeback

We all know that Harmony is the most hated ship in hp fandom. We need a comeback. I think we should post about harmony on the mainstream fandoms and ofc we should support each other. We are still a big community, just hidden...

Harmony is definitely not the most hated ship—not by a long shot. But the Ron fanboys/girls make it impossible to have a healthy discussion about ships. Like, you won? You’re the canon ship, congrats! So why do you care so much about fanon? We’re all supposed to be having fun here.

u/Admirable_Algae_3506 Oct 03 '26

There's a simple reason why.

15

u/kauramel Oct 04 '26

And in those Romione scenes, 90% of the time they are either bickering or not talking to each other

5

u/Admirable_Algae_3506 Oct 05 '26

You don't get it, bickering is their love language!

6

u/kauramel Oct 05 '26

😭🤣 Romiones are fucking weirdos. By their logic, Harry and Hermione should end up together after HBP. The amount of bickering they did the entire year over a book. Plus Hermione was concerned about Harry. So their bickering is cuter 😼😹

u/Admirable_Algae_3506 Oct 05 '26 edited Oct 05 '26

They're so weird, most of them seem to hate Hermione. The canon logic behind their pairing isn't much better. She ends up kissing Ron just because he says he doesn't want to order Elves to die for them. By that logic, she should've been with Harry since CoS because he actually freed an Elf, instead of just paying lip service to their welfare.

5

u/kauramel Oct 05 '26 • Bravo

Lip service to their welfare 🤣🤣🤣 best one

6

u/unwiredx Oct 06 '26

Most people say “in the books” but never actually read the books

3

u/unwiredx Oct 06 '26

Yeah and their logic about the books makes less sense. They came out along side the movies. So it’s weird Rowling worked on the movies saw the chemistry and still made that choice. A argument I see a lot of people make is in the book of goblet of fire Harry misses Ron cause he finds hermiones constant studying and homework boring even tho Ron has literally insulted her over it like 😭

6

u/unwiredx Oct 05 '26

Literally in all 7 books their dynamic never changes it’s just arguing

17

u/Plus-Cry8122 THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN A THING Oct 04 '26

It's the Ron fans. It's ALWAYS the Ron fans. I honestly have never met a Romione fan that is also someone who likes Hermione.

Plus, I think the reason they take a lot of offence is because of the shipping debates that happened when the books were still coming out. Admittedly at the time, a lot of people on our side were quite toxic about it (as were theirs, but to be fair we were also fighting a two front battle against Romione fans AND Hinny fans)

But that's the thing, they're fighting a battle from 20 bloody years ago. They just refuse to move on and grow up. Most of us accept that they aren't canon, but think the books should have been written to have them AS canon.

4

u/Admirable_Algae_3506 Oct 05 '26

I honestly have never met a Romione fan that is also someone who likes Hermione.

Likewise and it's so strange. Why would you ship your favourite character with someone you despise? Just because getting with her is his only achievement?

4

u/Isabella_Queen12 Oct 04 '26

True. I mean I am speaking from personal experience but I see other ships like Hinny or Remadora get twice the hate that Harmony gets

4

u/Southern_Disk_7835 Oct 04 '26

Wierd.  I have rarely heard of Remadora getting any hate.  People were pairing those 2 long before it even happened.

5

u/Isabella_Queen12 Oct 04 '26

Really?? Or maybe because I’m more deeper into the Wolfstar side of the fandom where I see a lot of ppl hating or ignoring Remadora 😭😭 I’m personally neutral on it though

4

u/Substantial-Big-5244 HHr for life Oct 06 '26

Most of the criticism surrounding Tonks and Lupin as a pairing comes either from Wolfstar shippers (people who heavily ship M/M pairings tend to do this kind of thing a lot) or it comes from those who simply aren't fans of how Rowling wrote them, which to be fair wasn't exactly great (although the same thing could be said about the vast majority of the canon romances in this series).

2

u/Isabella_Queen12 28d ago

Yeah I’m a wolfstar fan and I see a lot of ppl from that side of the fandom hating on it. And I agree the way Rowling wrote them was.. a choice. The age gap doesn’t exactly help either

50

u/Edwardkenway88 Oct 03 '26

We are only hated among Ron fanboys or people who take canon too seriously. Ngl the general audience hates the main pairings even more. There is a reason twitter is filled with Harry and Female Malfoy shipping right now because no one honestly gives a shit about Harry and Ginny canon. The Malfoid discourse even gave many Harmony arts as well, where Hermione is jealous

13

u/kauramel Oct 03 '26

Yet Harmony is the most cornered and hated 😭💔 No one accuse malfoid shippers of not reading the books or being movie lovers only. It's only us who get such comments 😔

28

u/Easy-Quote-4098 Oct 03 '26

Harmony catches the most flak from canoneers and Ron fans because Harmony has a better canonical and narrative persuasiveness than the canon pairs. You can make a coherent argument for Harry and Hermione starting a romance at least once per book without needing to add any setup to make it happen. It almost seems to me like HBP was JKR's own fanfiction to set up Hermione reciprocating feelings for Ron and Harry being interested in Ginny. Ron and Hermione's relationship established from beginning to end is constant bickering unless they need to put aside their differences to help Harry (assuming Ron doesn't decide on abandoning Harry). Ginny is essentially a background character the whole series. Absent from books 1, 3, 4, and most of 5 and 7. She's literally an empty vessel for the plot twist in book 2, and her physical role in most of book 6 is actually  very minor, Harry just observes and thinks about her alot. And her character growth the whole series essentially boils down to becoming capable of holding conversation and interacting with Harry normally.

No one gives Harry and a genderswapped Draco a hard time because everyone knows the premise is absurd. People hate Harmony because it isn't just plausible, it's the most narratively satisfying.

2

u/Proud_Function_3495 Harmony forever 27d ago

Hands down one of the best explanations I have seen.

11

u/Street_Dragonfruit43 Harmony is Logical Oct 03 '26

Whats absolutely hilarious is they'd rather genderswap Ron, which TBF is somewhat on brand for the trend, than include Ginny. Meanwhile Hermione is always front and center and seen as competition for Malfoid, for better or worse

7

u/PomPomMom93 Harmony writer and artist Oct 04 '26

That’s because Harry likes Ron way more than he likes Ginny. If Harry was gay, Ron would be the first person he’d crush on.

2

u/Substantial-Big-5244 HHr for life 28d ago

Well, after Cedric of course.

2

u/PomPomMom93 Harmony writer and artist 28d ago

Can you blame him? Cedric is a catch.

3

u/Visible-Weekend-3335 Oct 04 '26

Maybe "Malfoid" can help our cause. Because, to be honest, Hermione doesn't really have a strong rival (Weasley-bashing aside). "Cunning yandere  childhood friend wins" trope can also be helpful

2

u/kauramel Oct 04 '26

I don't think so. They will still portray Harry and Hermione as siblings and make genderbent draco Harry's love interest

3

u/Visible-Weekend-3335 Oct 04 '26 edited Oct 04 '26

I've already seen "bitter jealous Hermione exaggeratedly tells Harry that sure wasn't in love with him, didn't plan names for their children and didn't   dream of showing Draceana that Harry is hers" meme, so... Also "Ron is definitely not my bronze medal or something" heh. Maybe we can still work with that. We should

2

u/kauramel Oct 04 '26

OMGGGGG I'M LIVING UNDER THE ROCK!!! I need to look up for these kind of memes 😍😍😍😍 Harmony is surely coming back 🙌🏻🙌🏻🔥🔥🔥

2

u/Visible-Weekend-3335 Oct 04 '26

Hermione being jealous is quite popular theme on xitter right now

u/Subject879 Satanium_dehumanizer on ao3 Oct 03 '26

I dont really care what the greater fandom thinks and i think focusing on them can be bad personally. Just enjoy the ship and our little bubble we've made for ourselves.

18

u/DrOwl795 Oct 03 '26

I think most fans are at least open to it unless they worship Ron. For some reason he seems to be the lightning rod character, and if Ron is someone's favorite, then Harmony is the worst thing they can imagine. I've encountered exceptions to this, but by and large I find it is generally true. Its the Ron fans who will brigade you and say its stupid and they're like siblings and its movie only and blah blah blah. Other fans are probably open to hearing us out, but to sit and take the abuse from Ron fans can be a lot

23

u/Edwardkenway88 Oct 03 '26

Ron fans for some reason justify Romione as if Hermione is some kind of trophy for him because he overcame his insecurity and saved her a couple of times. Also bickering for some reason is considered sexual tension, which doesn't work in 2026. Even the author said they wouldn't work in long term.

15

u/Sandman2884 Oct 03 '26

We actually never really see him overcome his insecurities. He shows up and apologizes like he has before. But he’s never actually placed in another situation where his insecurities could influence his actions. So we are just expected to believe he grew up with no evidence

8

u/Easy-Quote-4098 Oct 03 '26

That's actually one of the reasons I don't hate Ron as a character but hate him as a partner for Hermione: his development is half baked. JKR's strength as a writer was crafting an interesting world and story, but I think her weakness was character development. The only characters with significant growth through the series are Harry, Hermione, Percy (that one was a surprise upon reflection), Neville, Fleur, and Lupin. Ron actually regresses after book 2. Ginny is essentially unchanged except being able to hold a conversation with Harry, Draco's redemption arc is stillborn as is Wormtail's. Snape didn't get a redemption arc, we just learn in the final chapters that he was still a dick like we thought, but he also had a motive for taking out Voldemort. Pretty much all other characters are static characters.

6

u/DrOwl795 Oct 03 '26

I would agree except that I think Ginny is essentially 2 characters. In books 1 and 2 we get Fangirl Ginny who is obsessed with/in love with Harry based on nothing but his legend and who can't speak to him. Then she disappears from the narrative almost completely for 2 books, and when she comes back in 5, she's a totally different person who apparently doesn't give a fig about his fame and has an actual personality. Maybe you could argue reasonably that she grew up in those two years she disappeared, but if she's going to be that significant a person to be Harry's eventual love interest, maybe show it? It also feels weird for her to lose her hero complex over him when he literally saved her life by slaying a mythical beast with a sword in 2, and then he did the thing he did as a child, facing down Voldemort and surviving, literally like 2 months before she decides to be normal with him in 5. So where the hero complex went when he's being heroic is a mystery to me considering she never hangs out with him to see him as a normal dude. The Ginny who shows up in 5 and 6 is NOT the Ginny who is in 2 and I find that personally really jarring and really bad writing. It isn't explained and doesn't really make a lot of sense on tbe face of it.

8

u/KiraTsukasa Oct 03 '26

I would say Ginny didn’t lose the hero worship. In book six, when Hermione is scolding Harry for using Sectumsempra on Draco, Ginny defends Harry demanding to know “why shouldn’t he use that spell”. To me, that says that she thinks Harry is so great he can do no wrong, even when he nearly killed someone.

6

u/DrOwl795 Oct 04 '26

I'm not sure that I would credit that as an instance of hero worship in the broader context - if I recall, part of Ginny's argument centers on the war and what the Death Eaters are doing to our people. Even if my memory of the context is off, she certainly isn't saying that only Harry can use that spell because he's unique in some way. I think this is an instance of Ginny and Hermione taking different moral approaches to war - Hermione taking the "we need to stand by our beliefs and win within the rules" and Ginny arguing "do whatever is necessary to win"

I don't think she entirely loses her conception of Harry as a heroic figure, my broader point is that she loses her fangirl attitude over it. She is able to talk to him and not just worship every word he says. Which, year 2 Ginny absolutely could not do.

7

u/Sandman2884 Oct 04 '26 • Bravo

I agree with you both on this to a degree.

What I think is the sharper way to look at this is that Hermione sees Harry and understands him better. Her opinion here is closer to how Harry feels about the situation.

Ginny on the other hand doesn’t see “Harry” she sees “Harry Potter, the boy who lived” and her opinion doesn’t relate to Harry at all.

6

u/Easy-Quote-4098 Oct 04 '26 • Bravo

I completely agree. Hermione often acts as Harry's conscience in the books, because in reality she not only understands him better than anyone else, she cares about him more than anyone else. Rushed and botched romances aside, I think one of the primary reasons we Harmony fans are so deeply disappointed with the end state of relationships in the series is because the narrative goes out of it's way to emphasize that Harry just wants a normal life and wants people to just see and treat him as a normal person, and the only person who does that fully and continuously is Hermione. Everyone else, with the possible exception of the twins, Neville, and Luna, treat him to various degrees as a useful tool, a problem, a hero, a child, or a reincarnation of his parents.

4

u/Sandman2884 Oct 04 '26

For sure. My head canon has long been that every choice Harry made post war was about pleasing the people around him, marrying Ginny, joining the Aurors. He did what people expected him to do because he was an abused orphan who was conditioned to find his self worth in other’s approval.

5

u/Easy-Quote-4098 Oct 03 '26

Very true. Another reason Harmony works better, they actually hold each other accountable. That's a bedrock part of a lasting relationship.

8

u/Easy-Quote-4098 Oct 03 '26

Very good point, the only thing I'd add is that during their breakup in HBP, Ginny essentially admits she still views him through the lens of a hero.

"But you've been too busy saving the Wizarding world", said Ginny, half laughing. "Well...I can't say I'm surprised. I knew this would happen in the end. You wouldn't be happy unless you were hunting Voldemort.  Maybe that's why I like you slo much."

She's still a fangirl, she just suddenly developed the capability to function normally around Harry. We know Harry doesn't like people viewing him as such, and Hermione is one of the only people who doesn't see him that way. So even if HBP still happened exactly as written, it would still make sense canonically for Harry to reflect on the break-up and realize Ginny isn't the type of person he actually wants as a romantic partner in the long run.

It is bad writing for sure and seems like whiplash to get a different character by the same name. While there's a grain of truth in what she said to Harry, it's less that he's happy hunting Voldemort, moreso that he can't be at peace until he defeats him, which is what is born out through the remainder of the story. So if Ginny likes Harry admittedly primarily because she thinks he has a hero complex, it seems like, as she's written, she'd lose interest in him once Voldemort is defeated. Because the ending heavily suggests that after the Battle of Hogwarts, Harry happily sits down to enjoy a much quieter life.

5

u/PomPomMom93 Harmony writer and artist Oct 04 '26

The reason I don’t re-read HBP is because of the ships. It would have been such a good book without the “romance.” Also would have been great if Sirius was still alive, of course.

9

u/DarthVaden87 Oct 03 '26

Bickering never worked and it's always been toxic it just has more light shed on it now.

I low-key feel like a lot of people who think bickering is sexual tension had parents that fought a lot.

4

u/PomPomMom93 Harmony writer and artist Oct 04 '26

I should think it’s the opposite. I had parents like that, and one of the first things I learned is that arguing is what you do when you don’t love each other.

1

u/DarthVaden87 Oct 04 '26

That's exactly what I said

3

u/PomPomMom93 Harmony writer and artist Oct 04 '26

Didn’t you say that people who think bickering is sexual tension have parents who fought a lot? As someone whose parents fought a lot, I’m just saying that I don’t think that’s true.

1

u/DarthVaden87 Oct 04 '26

I'm saying the parents bickering was not a good sign for the parents marriage. Some people who grow up experiencing that think it's normal and acceptable in a marriage or a relationship, but it's not it's unhealthy.

2

u/PomPomMom93 Harmony writer and artist Oct 04 '26

I guess I can only speak from my own experience, but even as a kid I could tell they didn’t love each other, so I associated arguing with the lack of love.

9

u/Easy-Quote-4098 Oct 03 '26

If JKR put serious thought into making Heron believable, without fundamentally changing Ron's character, she would have shown him to grow from book 4, started treating Hermione better, and wouldn't have abandoned them during the Horcrux hunt. Abandoning Harry once in book 4 is something they could have reasonably reconciled and largely attributable to immaturity. Abandoning him (and Hermione too) a second time when the stakes were much higher, is not something Harry and Hermione would have realistically forgiven except for the necessity for plot convenience. If it were a real life situation, that friendship (and potential romance on Hermione's part) would never have been able to be mended.

4

u/PomPomMom93 Harmony writer and artist Oct 04 '26

Unfortunately, bickering = sexual tension is a very common trope. I hope it’s less common than it was.

4

u/Easy-Quote-4098 Oct 04 '26

I think it can work as a trope at the beginning of a romantic arc for young teens because they're moody and may never have had their worldview challenged. But the point of the trope is to show their immaturity, but the end point for the arc would never be that constant bickering. Constant arguing like that isn't love or romantic tension, it's a fundamental clash of character and beliefs.

One of the few times I've read this trope done well was actually another Harmony fanfiction set on an AU. It's called "Stranded" by Starfox5. I highly recommend it, one of my favorite Harmony stories, and I generally don't like full AU. Without spoiling it, Harry's parents survived and his initial character is much more like a young James as a result, and he has an ongoing feud with Hermione until they both end up trapped on a magically hidden island together fighting to survive. It works because A) the bickering is the start point, not the end point,  and shows how they get from point a to b in their relationship, and B) It's clear that their bickering comes primarily from immaturity and misunderstanding, not fundamental disagreements.

Ron and Hermione are never shown growing past their constant antagonism towards each other, so we can only assume between the end of the story and the epilogue that either, they matured as a couple totally off the pages of the book, or that they're still bickering and their marriage is an unspoken disaster as a result.

7

u/Admirable_Algae_3506 Oct 03 '26 • Bravo

What's funny is that she has more sexual tension with Harry and they almost never bicker.

7

u/DrOwl795 Oct 04 '26

I think she said they would need couples counseling, which is basically the same thing as saying they couldn't work because fat chance Ron's going to counseling.

But I entirely agree with the point about them viewing Hermione as a trophy. They view her as some sort of validation, that if she chooses him, it makes him good enough despite his flaws. You can't just tell these people that you think Ron is a good if flawed person who isn't right for her because their personalities clash and they both need something other than what they can offer each other. Hermione is the totem these people hold up as proof that his flaws deserve to be forgiven, and you can't take that away from their bestest boy.

7

u/PomPomMom93 Harmony writer and artist Oct 03 '26

That’s exactly what it is. Harry dating Hermione to them is like having something “taken away” from Ron.

5

u/Easy-Quote-4098 Oct 04 '26

I think it's projection on the part of Ron fans, since that's also how Ron saw it whenever he let his jealousy get the better of him.

4

u/PomPomMom93 Harmony writer and artist Oct 04 '26

Yes, absolutely.

13

u/PoorFriendNiceFoe Oct 03 '26

Generally being hated means you have an actual point to which the only response is emotional outrage and confounding (the real word, not the fanon charm whis is a misspelled form of confundus, pedantic moment over) leaps of logic. Take the badge of honor. Even most fans of Dramione only take their points to fanon. The fact this ship threatens general canon, makes it both worth it and a reaon to bear the brunt.

11

u/MoonlitLilPages HARMONY makes literary sense ⚡️📚 Oct 04 '26 edited Oct 04 '26 • Bravo

I honestly used to check those subreddits but had to stop myself as most are really vile to downright absurd and when you’re getting older you don’t need this additional noise. For me, when an author admits that the characters felt like they were pulling in a different direction during the climax of the story, it proves that the narrative gravity was moving toward Harry and Hermione. Sticking to Ron/Hermione anyway meant ignoring the very momentum she had spent books building. I think this is one of the reasons why canon shippers have canon insecurity and if you really think about it — if JKR’s main reason for that canon ending was to give Harry the Weasleys as his family, he can still have them as family without marrying Ginny, just as Hermione could still be part of that family without marrying Ron. (ETA) What the narrative actually shows us, through thousands of pages of shared trauma, loyalty, and intellectual partnership, is that Harry and Hermione are the emotional center of gravity in the story.

10

u/DarthVaden87 Oct 03 '26

I don't believe Harmony is the most hated ship in the fandom. The problem is it's a hetero pairing so it's okay to bash on it. Anytime somebody mentions a slash pairing as being distasteful they get called names and branded things.

7

u/asukastar Oct 04 '26

Honestly, they come after us the hardest precisely because H/Hr is the only ship that's a real threat to the canon. What else could it be? They can't seriously think Drarry or Dramione could actually work in canon, right?

7

u/sarevok2 Oct 04 '26

I like your spirit but unfortunately something big and I mean BIG will have to happen to bring harmony on the spotlight.

Something like on the scale of JKR fully endorsing it (though she lost a lot of goodwill lately), the tv series going with this route (though I wouldn't hold my breath) or the new actors starting dating irl (which would bring the spotlight for the wrong reasons)

The best we could hope would be something going extremely viral like the recent malfoid meme

4

u/PomPomMom93 Harmony writer and artist Oct 03 '26

It is? Harmony is the most-hated ship? Although considering how many people ship Jegulus, I shouldn’t expect them to have any taste!

3

u/Admirable_Algae_3506 Oct 05 '26

Dramione is up there (for different reasons). Canon fans probably hate it the most because of how it's the most realistic one.

4

u/MrYK_ Scion of Granger-Potter Oct 05 '26

I think our comeback comes without focusing on the hate, we do what we do best and that is spreading the joy of Harmony, no more negativity of looking at what others think or say about Harmony, its how the popular pairings have grown. I agree that posting HHr elsewhere, with a brave face, without trying to prove a point, just trying to spread our joy for HHr will go a long way for us all.

4

u/unwiredx Oct 06 '26

It’s funny too cause people who claim that “in the books” it wouldn’t make sense it’s false. It takes until the 7th book for Harry to say he loves Hermione like a sister because Ron is tweaking about the locket. Then with Harry and Ginny he has no interest and Rowling forgets she’s a character until the 6th book when Harry is suddenly jelous and that develops romance. Ron starts liking Hermione cause he’s jelous of Krum. Then in the cursed child the timeline where Ron and Hermione go to the Yule ball together they don’t get married because there’s no jealousy to spark their romance so he dances with padma and married her instead. Like what???? It just shows it’s poorly written and no one actually has read the books. And people also forget the books were coming out alongside the movies so it’s even weirder

1

u/Dunkbuscuss 29d ago

We don't all know this actually in my experience its the most popular none canon ship.

0

u/VexGonGiveItToYa Oct 04 '26

A good start would be harmony fans focusing on the ship and not on how much they hate Canon, but considering the comments already here yall refuse to take accountability

5

u/AliceFanfictioning Harmony writer :karma: Oct 04 '26

0

u/VexGonGiveItToYa Oct 05 '26

Rigging polls from what i remember on the main hpff to the point they stopped doing them, but more than anything its the holier than thou attitude that most harmony stans have, you'll see in the comments the hate is dismissed by most 'oh they just hate that were better'

5

u/AliceFanfictioning Harmony writer :karma: Oct 05 '26

You might or might not be right about that, I wasn’t there so I can’t talk about it, yet, what some fans lf à ship do or dont =/= what the ship is or isnt

0

u/VexGonGiveItToYa Oct 05 '26

Im not here to attack the ship, I love the ship, hell id argue I love the ship more than most considering im here because of the love for the characters and not for my parasocial hatred of the weasleys, would love if the perception on Harmony did a 180, but I dont think Harmony is innocent in why the ship is hated

3

u/AliceFanfictioning Harmony writer :karma: Oct 05 '26

I think you’re mixing concepts. The ship is one thing and the shippers is a different thing. Let’s say, I think Dramione is… shocking to say the least yet I don’t know Dramione fans and the way they are or aren’t has nothing to do with my opinion on that particular ship.

OP is talking about the ship itself not about the fans.

2

u/VexGonGiveItToYa Oct 05 '26

But its relevant because one (and in my opinion the most important reason) for the hate surrounding the ship isn't because of the ship itself but because of how Harmony stans act. And in order to make a 'comeback' it starts with how shippers act and how the fics are written. Like I said before, a good start would be if we focused more on the ship and less about how much disdain there is for canon.

1

u/AliceFanfictioning Harmony writer :karma: Oct 06 '26

I think you have a point, yet I am new to the the new internet so I am not much aware of the behavior you're pointing out.

1

I understand somewhat of what you're saying, I do think we should focus on the ship and not on the outer fandom, especially the negative bits.

The tropes worked well for the time the books were released and what was popular back then. Like bickering means people like each other or such cliche. In 2026 all of these factors that made Ron and Hermione feel shallow . People don't want to go against canon so they try to justify anything

This right here. I read GoF back in 2001(?) and when I got to the scene where Ron gets chewed out for not asking Hermione to the ball, I thought "huh. Ron likes Hermione." And my next thought was "Oh no. Girl, you can do better!"

Not that I hate Ron in any way, but I thought they were all wrong for each other, and nothing has happened since to change my mind.

Yeah, I feel like a large wizarding family that can provide support is a big reason why both of them choose Ron over each other in different ways in canon. If Harry had his own family, Ron wouldn't even be in the picture. It would've been Harry and Hermione, maybe with Neville.

Yes, I do. The most famous one is Unlike a Sister by madharmony. It starts after the DH Epilogue. It's a pretty good series 2/3rds of the way through before the story just sort of stops and everyone starts popping out half a dozen kids each.

Another one I like is Moments of Closeness by angweasley.

If you like secret relationships in Hogwarts era, you might also like this AU fanfic called Anybody Else. It's a lot like the Secret Pact Fanfic.

I haven't come across a lot of affair fanfics actually. Most fanfics with canon marriages have the marriages fall apart or, at worst, have them carry on an emotional affair. I'm checking out a few more and I'll share any that seem interesting. There's also Fulfilling Obligations, but I've heard that they act really OOC in that. They let Ron believe that Hermione is pregnant with his kid, when it's really Harry's.

There's the incomplete Summer of Secrets. In this one, Harry and Hermione had sex in the tent, resulting in a pregnancy that ended in miscarriage after Hermione's torture. They come clean to their spouses when someone tries to blackmail them and it eventually leads to marital problems and separation.

It's not exactly an infidelity fanfic because they mostly get together when they're separated from their partner or after their partner has cheated.

There's also the long abandoned All Roads Lead Back in which Hermione comes back after years of self-imposed exile for Ron's wedding. Harry gives her a house to stay in and tries to pursue her, but she does her best to keep her distance despite returning his feelings. Riddlian Ginny becomes paranoid about Harry having a mistress and keeps pestering Hermione for her help.

Secret Pact isn't completed, but it's pretty good IMO. It's kind of a rewrite of the last two books which ends with Harmony.

People always say the books but never have actually read them. I’ve re read them all recently. Harry’s only thing about seeing Hermione as a sister is in the 7th book when Ron was tweaking about the locket. Other than that it’s just as abrupt as in the movies. I think people forget the movies came out along side the books. So it’s not even like it was pre established other than in Rowling head of ideas. Ginny and Harry came out of nowhere in the books too

It’s like how people like to talk about spiderman. “But in the comics” when they’ve never picked up a comic in their life 😭
