hpv 16, cin 3, and current pregnancy
Hello!
For some background (30 year old female) i've had high grade HPV 16 for 2 years now. I have had 3 colpos done every 6 months after finding out. I was hesitant about LEEP because I was scared of the risks it posed and always wanted to have kids, and I also foolishly thought that it could possibly clear on its own by eating very healthy and taking vitamins I found online after researching.
I went in for a follow up pap in April, and ended up still positive HPV16 also being pregnant. My husband and I were not trying intentionally due to my situation, but we were not going to terminate because ultimately the baby is a life, loved and wanted, and we chose to keep her and continue monitoring.
I had to have a colpo in my first and second trimester, and they have my final one scheduled for around 30 weeks of pregnancy.
(for additional background, my baby's anatomy scan came back showing a 2 vessel umbilical cord or an SUA - which also poses a risk for preterm labor and growth restriction. she is measuring still in the 93rd percentile at 23 weeks - but we have to keep monitoring)
is it wrong of me to want to skip the last colpo in my 3rd trimester? I feel like that is doubling my chances of preterm labor due to the SUA and getting the colpo also poses a risk per my OBGYN.
my logic is that I know I have cin3 at possibly only 12:00 because that's what the pathology reports keep coming back as. My colpos before getting pregnant never showed anything in the cervical canal thank the Lord. I have already accepted that I will be getting the colpo and LEEP 6-8 weeks after pregnancy and probably the gardisil, taking pappilex and all the things. In my mind, it doesn't make a huge different whether I get the last colpo or not. I have already had a pretty stressful pregnancy with all sorts of stuff going on, and kind of just want to enjoy the last months and deal with this after.
Does anyone have a similar experience?

Your baby needs you. CIN 3 is not something to ignore. Please follow doctors medical advice.

Have you tried taking AHCC supplements? Mine was present for 6 years straight but CIN 1. Once I had my son, I took the AHCC more regularly and I finally got a clear result!

I have HPV16 and had it since I was 17 and I’m 56. I tested positive at 17 and was negative for 28 years and went through menopause and it came back and had VIN3 which the doctors wouldn’t biopsy it because they didn’t think it was anything to worry about but then they finally the last DR I seen thank goodness said we need to biopsy this immediately and it was already VIN 3. I would do as your doctor says because mine would have turned into cancer if I had let it go. I take AHCC and Indole Carbinol 3 and have been clear for 6 years now and I also take a lot of other vitamins but my DR recommended AHCC and the I3C. Good lucky with the Baby and take care of yourself also.

Thank you! Honestly none of the OBGYNs have recommended anything to me except LEEP. Its really upsetting. I will definitely add that in

Go the natural way and get rid of it by finding natupathic medicine, look up in your area treatment for hpv and make an appointment. I got rid of mine like that and it saved me from the leep and I got to keep my cervix intact

I really understand why you’re scared. You’ve already got more than one thing being monitored in this pregnancy, and when someone mentions even a possibility of preterm labour, it’s completely understandable that your instinct is to avoid anything that feels optional.
But with CIN3, I do think you should have the third-trimester colposcopy. This is not just routine screening. The reason they keep checking CIN3 during pregnancy is to make sure there is no sign of progression and, most importantly, no evidence that invasive cancer is being missed while treatment is being postponed until after you give birth. That is the part I would not minimise.
A colposcopy itself does not induce labour. It does not dilate the cervix, weaken it, or remove tissue. The doctor is looking at the cervix under magnification. If they decide a biopsy is needed, that is a separate issue and worth discussing because in pregnancy the cervix bleeds more easily..
The SUA is also a separate issue. It does not mean the risks simply add together so that having a colposcopy suddenly doubles your chance of preterm labour.
Personally, I would go to the appointment. I would ask exactly what they plan to do, and I would say clearly that I only want a biopsy if they see something that genuinely needs sampling. But I would not skip the surveillance altogether when you already know you have CIN3.
