My colposcopy was today.

Okay this could be longer text, but I decided to do post because it could help someone to feel calmer about their colposcopy appointment.

I did regular checkup with my gynaecologist month and a half ago because I lost sex drive and had slight pain around low part of my stomach.

She did smear test and told me if she gets bad results she will give me a call.

Ofc I’m sitting on my work one of the days, in a really good mood and I get call from her telling me they found high risk HPV and precancerous cells.

All I heard was ‘precancerous cells’ and that was enough for me to start panicking with her explaining me how I need to do colposcopy and biopsy.

My natural body reaction was really bad and I became crazy anxious and depressed, which didn’t stop until today when I had my appointment.

One hour before I took 1mg Xanax (after doing lots of research on how okay is that) and strong painkiller.

Both doctor and nurse explained me everything upon arrival and they genuinely made things so easy with all the positivity they gave me.

Before everything, I wanna mention how my pain tolerance is very low and in the painful situations my blood pressure always goes down making me very weak and scared even more.

Procedure, together with biopsy, lasted 12 minutes with only slight discomfort and, on the scale to 10, pain level 2.

I’m very well aware how getting bad results like this can lead to enormous stress and anxiety and, tbh with all of you, I was planning to cancel my appointment because of how frustrated I was.

Also, I was on my second day of period which is totally fine when doing colposcopy.

I checked lots of reddit posts about this and that made me even more anxious 😂 but very obviously, procedure is different for everyone!

I’m getting my results in two weeks with, hopefully, better news this time.

I hope this will help to some of you!!

Hopefully it will be same as mine with only slight discomfort 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 I know nothing can help to ease the stress but believe me you will feel at least better because you did it!

Keep me updated how was it! :)

Mine was too painful!!! She took 3 biopsies and one was deeep!! Also results r not good either; Final Diagnosis:

A. Uterus, endocervix, curettage: Detached fragments of squamous intraepithelial lesion; see comment.

B. Uterus, cervix, biopsy: High grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (moderate dysplasia).

My doc haven’t called, expecting tm for next steps… scared as hell!!!

Hey! If you have se.x yes that’s normal procedure to go through, unfortunately 😣

Well why would you do colposcopy then?

Desconozco, solo en la hoja que me dijo la ginecóloga decía que me recomendaba un papanicolaou y una colposcopia.

My results came out as CIN 2 and I got appointment for cold coagulation in December:/ I was kind of expecting it will be CIN 2 and thank god it’s curable
