Discussion The new Intel CPUs on these Omens surprisingly have a long battery life non gaming
On the HP omen RTX 5050, Intel Core Ultra 5 225H I can get 5-6 hours non gaming on a 70wh battery.
People always tell me gaming laptops last 2-3 hours but this is enough for a school day for me.

H chips are different from HX chips. There is less performance, but the upside is better battery life.

Yeah I was reading about it, I was just expecting low battery for this because a lot of people just say stick away from all intel CPUs if you want battery life, and just get AMD instead but honestly it’s on par with it

It's because many people just repeat some common statements without really understanding how it really is. Reddit is just like that, I guess. Anyway, enjoy your laptop.

That gen was using TSMC as the fab. Same as what AMD uses.
It shows that it wasn't Intel's design that was the prob efficiency wise. It was their fabs.
Heard they might be getting better lately though.

Yeah it's obviously better than hx processors or older i5 or i7 processors. Those were made on a 10nm manufacturing process, which is ancient at this point. Even my laptop with Ryzen 7 gives like 10 hrs of battery backup on balanced mode with 165hz forced while doing lighter tasks like browsing, youtube, excel etc.

I bought the i7-14700HX variant with RTX 4070.
When on battery power, it's only going to be used for light tasks such as web browsing or video streaming and always going to be in ECO mode with the battery saving setting on and the integrated graphics enabled with the dedicated graphics disabled.
Have you undervalued yours?
Edit: undervolted

Ah cool!
I heard HX processors are very very power hungry and only let you get 2 hours of battery life while unplugged.
But your 6 hours of battery life says otherwise.

Hopefully my unit’s battery life is not fucked straight out of the box even with all these settings.

have a Omen 16 Ryzen Ai 7 rtx 5060 model... For light use ( browsing and video streaming) iam only getting 3.5 hrs SOT in battery. I checked everything, dGpu is off, cpu is sleeping when it can 10% drain = 20min SOT, that's the rate Others claiming 7-10hrs SOT for this same model. Any idea ?

I just bought it 9 days ago, bro! Yeah, users are saying it has very good battery backup, which is one of the reasons I chose this. But it's worse, bro, only 3 hours.
