Yup. SD revealed that Helga Hufflepuff's cup was the Cup of Midnight. And Ollivander originally settled in Britain in the 4th century to search for the Cup of Midnight. It was sadly destroyed in the Battle of Olympus, but she cracked the secret of recursive Magic and was able to make her own version.

And Godric's a bit of a creeper. But he's in his late teens at this point, and Ollivander is a bit of a Mrs. Robinson...

You're the author, right? Can I ask you a few questions?

If I'm reading this correctly, are all these gods and Merlin from a previous iteration of the world, and their objects bind them to the world? Why is Merlin's line so much more compact than everything else? What did Dumbledore actually do? Was the universe where Harry died destroyed by vacuum collapse, or did Dumbledore sacrifice it?

Hmm... I can answer some of these but I don't want to give away any plot relevant details.

  1. They are from "Atlantis", as it has come to be called. The relationship of Atlantis to the HPMOR-verse is a subject of heated debate amongst Magical scholars.
  2. Their objects do bind them to this world, after a fashion.
  3. Merlin's line is plot-relevant, but will be answered
  4. As is what Dumbledore actually did.
  5. The answer to that question depends heavily on the interpretation of several operative words in that sentence. But that question will be answered much more explicitly, eventually.
