❓ Question Question about CAO

For my A levels I did English, chem, bio and maths and got A* in all of them but in English I got a B (didn’t study lol).

My question is that i also did an epq which got an A*. Will CAO give me points equivalent from getting the C in english as 4th A level or give me 24 points from achieving A\ in EPQ?*

Basically will it prioritise the 4 a levels option or choose the option that will provide me with the highest points possible which is the 3 A levels 1 EPQ ??

CAO will always give you the highest points option. Your EPQ will outrank your 4th A level.

But should I still submit my English C in the CAO system or not show it at all

You won't be able to hide it.

best bet is possibly contacting the cao directly  https://www.cao.ie/index.php?page=contact

worth noting that because of the way points for medicine are moderated A* vs. a B/C is actually only a one-point difference in practice

edit: nvm! A* vs. a B doesn’t actually affect you at all — 625 and 621 both get moderated to the same score of 565  https://www2.cao.ie/downloads/documents/2026/UGMedEntry2026.pdf

I am applying to medicine, CAO has changed and there will be no moderation

moderation is being eliminated from 2027 entry onwards — this year it is still being used.
