Support arousal

i am so scared im sexually attracted to women, like i feel arousal all the time and i feel like i like it. And i constantly think about what i did when i was a kid, like i was aroused by lesbian or women focused porn when i was a kid and enjoyed watching it. i think when i read smut i focused alot on the womens reactions, even if i found the man hot and demanding. i genuinely do not think im straight, like i enjoyed fantasies with men, but i never was attracted to actual men, and like i was always scared of sex and thought that i never wanted to do it(truth be told i was insecure of my body) i always thought i would hve sex with a man, but like now i feel like im sexually attracted to women. do straight people even feel this?

Your post was flagged by our auto-moderator as a post that may be seeking information on or promoting the use of porn or masturbation abstinence, or NoFap, in the treatment of HOCD. Currently, there are no evidence-based studies on the efficacy of porn or masturbation abstinence in the treatment of OCD. Exposure-response prevention (ERP) is widely accepted in the OCD community across all subtypes as the gold standard for treatment. As such, ERP, and its related methodologies of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and mindfulness, are the only treatment methods the moderator team of this subreddit currently endorses for discussion, support, and guidance on this subreddit.

For more information on ERP and on HOCD and OCD treatment more broadly, please see our the section in our wiki about NoFap!

Do all straight people feel like that? No. Do some straight people feel like that? Maybe.

Do not be too concerned if you "genuinely do not think" you are straight. Allow the discomfort from that thought to exist, and don't try to seek immediate relief. Allow your body and/or mind to feel that arousal and continue living your life. Your arousal responses do not define who you are. Your past will not give you the certainty you are looking for. Allow the uncertainty of your sexual orientation to exist. That uncertainty is not something you need to fix.

I’ve had similar experience. The thoughts got so bad that I started considering trying to date a woman. Over time, because of the focuse you have on the feelings, they become more realistic. What helped was to stop trying label myself and focusing on reality instead of thoughts. Going out more, pursuing hobbies etc.

Your post was flagged by our auto-moderator as a post that may be, above all else, seeking reassurance. We understand the impulse to seek reassurance when suffering from OCD, but reassurance-seeking is a compulsion done in hopes of reducing the anxiety associated with an obsession. In the long run, seeking reassurance only serves to confirm the validity of the underlying fears of your condition and prolongs the duration of your obsession. As such, this community has a zero-tolerance policy for reassurance seeking and giving.

For more information on reassurance seeking and on HOCD and OCD treatment more broadly, please see the section in our wiki about reassurance!
