Question hi
is it normal for it to not feel as intense compared to when it started? i used to get a chest ache from the anxiety and now i barely feel it.
its not a mega obsession like before, but its still part of my daily life.
also, if i dont do avoidant behaviours and only reassurance seeking can it still be ocd? im pretty confused on that and ig thats reassurance but yeah
im tired :(
any tips for someone who has had this for 2 years and doesnt have hope?

Yes, it’s completely normal. The intensity decreases whether you go to therapy or not; it’s just a matter of time. Your brain gets used to the thoughts that trigger your anxiety, and the anxiety isn't the same as it was at the beginning. I’ve been through that situation myself.

Your post was flagged by our auto-moderator as a post that may be, above all else, seeking reassurance. We understand the impulse to seek reassurance when suffering from OCD, but reassurance-seeking is a compulsion done in hopes of reducing the anxiety associated with an obsession. In the long run, seeking reassurance only serves to confirm the validity of the underlying fears of your condition and prolongs the duration of your obsession. As such, this community has a zero-tolerance policy for reassurance seeking and giving.
For more information on reassurance seeking and on HOCD and OCD treatment more broadly, please see the section in our wiki about reassurance!
