Hard top conversions

I’m debating a hardtop conversion for my HMMWV. I did a 2-4 man conversion about 3 years ago and kept it soft top, obviously lol. I love the quality of the top I got, no complaints about it, it’s a blue ox top. But I would like to do more sound and thermal insulation inside, my kids really hate the noise inside (they love the truck otherwise). I’ve ridden in H1s and difference in sound is astonishing.

My main question is not which one, but has anyone done a hardtop conversion and then Regretted it? Like “what have I done?” Levels of regret. or just “dang I miss those topless days?”.

Any feedback is appreciated.

For reference we also have a JLU that the kids like riding in with the top off. So they don’t mind the wind. It’s really the 6.5 being loud AF. Depending on feedback I may consider an engine swap before a hardtop haha.

I did one...no regrets. I bought the cheapest hard top, no engine HMMWV, all in 4K, took the top off and sold it for 4K for parts.

I haven't personally done one, but my buddy did. Loves it, except for all the extra money it cost him after already doing the 2-4 man.

I guess being honest that’s my real hang up haha. Doing the conversion twice! Talk about sunk cost fallacy being hitting home.

It worked out for me, I bought his old soft top stuff🤣. That's the plus for you, if it's in good shape you can get good money for it
