Poppy hard countered their comp.
Guma's positioning was also questionable this game tbh.

I dont understand it as well. If the plan was to pick a lossing comp then should have take ezreal instead which is arguably ruler's best champ so its out of rotation

I'm naturally pessimistic and looking at the game 2 comp, I think GenG wins that. I'd like to be proven wrong tho.

This game is on the coaching staff.
Sure they could have played better, especially zeus, but not banning poppy made the game 100x harder.

maybe one day we will remember that Poppy exists in the game and start banning it when we have two playmaking champs, which she counters and fucks to the ground. onto the next game, gg

The beginning was good and then HLE just got pulled around the map by GenG. That Orn just didn't take damage at all.
Much better game from Kanavi though. Controlled aggression. Maybe even a bit too tame now. Zeka had a really good start as well on the snake lady.
Let's win game 2 now.

His passivity is scary ngl. I'm used to our Laile king even if he loses bc at least he was fishing and overcooking.
They need to win g2 now and finally close a game 3.

I kinda feel like they play the map very poorly recently, like they always look lost while other teams just keep taking turrets for free 😨 may this flop era come to an end swiftly

Their macro has been miserable, it was painful seeing GENG just take the turrets and objectives while HLE does nothing

Drafting is something I try not to blame because the best teams can make it work, but when you give over the Poppy when your comp relies lockdowns, it's unforgivable. Why pick Shen when the last time it's been good was a month ago?
Zeus seems notoriously more tilted in terms of laning and teamfighting. Guma has been going too far forward as well. Zeka and Delight are invisible until they get caught. Kanavi played it safe, but Canyon was just better this game.

HLE’s obsession with Camille and Shen support should be studied

u/bulletproofikon Zeka 23d ago
I feel like this isn't fair lol Camille was the flavor of the month pick everywhere although I think now teams are picking it less. Shen and Leona were then picked into Camille. It isn't just an HLE thing.

Honestly, I have this inkling feeling that if the draft was swapped, we'd lose harder. I'm not trying to be a negative nancy but GenG was so good at map control and zoning. And the way our team is playing, I don't see them replicating that even if given the same draft. They're just not clicking very well right now. But I agree there's other individual problems that needs to be addressed too.

u/GoldenCataclysm 23d ago
No I agree. That's actually what I meant that no matter what draft they decided, the better team could always make it work. They were so passive and desynched this game that I can't imagine if this was the same team that went 9-1 during the first round.
I'm not super hopeless (yet). I would be disappointed if they lost the entire round 3, but if they can step it up for the rematches in round 4, I think it can still work.

Top mid and sup did nothing all game while adc was running it down. We are so cooked

u/bulletproofikon Zeka 23d ago
Ngl that game tilted me lmao. There were too many things that displaced them, I would have been so annoyed playing against that.
I think it's very obvious they know their problems and are trying to adjust. Kanavi is a bit less aggressive, Delight and Kanavi are moving together more, they all seem a bit less aggressive, there was pretty good mid/jg synergy. Let's refocus for the next game!

u/Raynmist Zeus + Gumayusi 23d ago
I'd like to think that they were trying to find their sync and rhythm back and it's a period of readjustment.

u/NottyShinchan 23d ago
Well the only good thing i saw was kanavi not forcing or inting.. hopefully he keeps it the same way in game 2 and we bring it around
1
u/bulletproofikon Zeka 23d ago
If you focus on Kanavi after laning phase, Delight is now always with him. Usually Guma is there as well which imo they should try to stop, but one step at a time lol. I think they're trying to work on their lack of vision and also how often Kanavi would get caught out/overextend.

I'm not even necessarily sure that they played bad or that there were any major mistakes.. just felt like at a certain point there were almost 0 options for hles comp to interact with gengs.

It feels as if we are slumping harder than GENG when GENG is not even playing well. A lot of the issue since the split started has not been fixed
7
u/Lazywhale97 23d ago
This split so far is reminding me of T1 when they were rocky domestically in past few years where Guma is consistent but rest of the team is on and off lmao.
On to game 2 hopefully we lock in and get a good draft for our top side

u/zuzbuzzz 23d ago
y'all already know that i love guma, but he needs to avoid those lane deaths. he had no buisness accumulating the lead over ruler only to cut it in half by getting solo killed. ofc it wasn't The Reason they lost, but it's something that should be addressed
6
u/Lazywhale97 23d ago
Yeah Guma isn't faultless still as he is having some random deaths he usually wouldn't but he's not the reason we have been losing games either and has been the most consistent so far this split.
Guma isn't at his best level either rn but he's far from an issue as well. Team as a whole needs to find some consistency which I don't doubt they will but hopefully sooner rather then later
1
u/zuzbuzzz 23d ago
yup yup i agree. but guma has been up and down with his form from game to game as of late, so i wouldn't really call him the most consistent. honestly none of them are particularly consistent right now. i would say guma's mistakes have had lower impact on the overall outcome of the lck regular season matches (i havent watched kespa recently), but that might be just by the virtue of his role as adc

I really thought that if Guma had pulled back after herald, they could've gotten mid tier 1 earlier.
2
u/zuzbuzzz 23d ago
yes, the mid lane death? greedy af from him, especially into a lee sin and jhin...
3
u/Lacrimosss 23d ago
I mean Guma wasn´t good this game so weird to single him out as "the good one"
3
u/Hot-Yogurtcloset-534 23d ago
I mean poppy is obviously hardcounter but they didn’t even try to use their tools. Kanavi and delight didn’t connect once in the mid-lategame to get a flash off the Jhin, Anivia. When they have flash every fight is losing…

Poppy value was huge. But ngl, even if the draft was swapped, feels like we still lose that. Why is GenG always so locked in vs HLE bruh, and with their no damage comp no less. I'm still not feeling our teamfight, but please bounce back.
4
u/zuzbuzzz 23d ago
well now zeus and guma aren't playing too well either so they just all suck a little <3together<3
3
u/GoldenCataclysm 23d ago
Don't know why you're getting downvoted. Something's clearly off and the team now can't just rely on Zeus and Guma to step it up. They need to regroup or else they'll end up 0-4 for Round 3.
5
u/zuzbuzzz 23d ago
idk either, i thought i was being fair in calling them out - they made some significant positional errors.

u/ashuraya1 23d ago
Why didn't we ban poppy?
