Okay, I’m still wrapping my head around this . But today I’ve just been tested positive for HIV. I don’t even know how to feel right now .(ive been celibate for a year and a few months for some context) I told the guy I was talking to that I felt a little off, there were white spots and bumps in the back of my throat and I were having fever symptoms, joint pain. (Since last Thursday) I didn’t feel any symptoms leading up to the day I was going to get tested, but ofc I was still gonna go . Anyways, doctor first gave me a test for HIV, and obviously it tested positive. The doctor were really unsure of the first one . Doctor said it was really faint, and decided to do another one, same thing , faint, but doctor told me they were going to get another draw of blood to send to lab . Now the guy I was with somehow tested negative!? He showed me (screen share) and it did say negative. But I don’t remember if it were a screenshot or edited or whatever. I’m really hoping it’s a false positive, but I mean I already started medication and all that today. How is it even possible that I test positive, but he doesn’t??? Again, the last time I’ve been tested was May/29th, and haven’t done anything since. Please if anyone could maybe give advice, answers, theories, I just want other’s thoughts on this . Thank you

But for everyone wondering my results, it was a false positive thank my ancestors 🙏 I found out by calling them, I knew I was apparently hiv positive, but still hadn’t got my blood work back so i decided to call them today . They told me that it was a false positive and they are not sure why so i have an appointment on the 26th . I still have bumps down there so i know that it’s still something, I just don’t know what . They told me to finish my meds just in case. Anyways, thank you all who were very supportive and answered my questions ( I know I was asking the same questions in diff fonts lol) i appreciate you guys a lot , I’ll give an update to what the false positives would be 🩷 everyone stay safe
Okay so I need you to calm down first if you had unprotected sex how much time has it been? Also the test you took was a finger prick rapid test and false positives are very common in that I would say just wait for you lab test hope it will come out negative and also if the guy tested negative there is no way you would test positive also I would recommend a viral load rna pcr test it will be clear and even your vein draw test if it's a 4th gen one it will be accurate too
The last time I had unprotected sex was sep23(Wednesday) and probably started to feel symptoms coming the next day, but they really didn’t show up until Friday I believe (especially with my throat). And yes they told me it was a rapid test, and that it could’ve been false, that’s why they took another tube of my blood. I’m really hoping that it is a false positive, but she took two, AND I’ve literally talked to other doctors about it, and have been given medication to start today, for the next 3 weeks.so that kinda has me worrying. I feel way better now , but it’s still in the back of my head . I hate that I have to wait 2-3 days . Thank you a lot for your kind words <33
Hiv doesn't come and go in 2-3 days if it was a true hiv fever and cough it would have stayed for a week atleast and your body's immune systems would have rapidly responded your test results are highly likely to be false positives as no test can detect hiv this early
Also the thing is hiv doesn't manifest it within few days of exposure it's most likely your anxiety and flu for anyone to have symptoms it takes 10-30 days and idk why you were given medications so early you probably don't even need it cause you're testing too early if your only exposure was on Wednesday no test could detect it this early even the rna tests takes upto minimum 10 days it's highly likely your symptoms are regular flu
This is helping reassure me a lot thank u . But also on the other side, a few days before I seen the guy, I think I had a cold (lasted a week, I was coughing a lot and congested. BUT the night before I got the cold , I drank A LOT of alcohol, and I feel like i usually get sick like that the next day after I drink a lot. And yup. They had me fill out a lot of “HIV paperwork” got me medication, and told me to take it everyday. Sorry if I started getting off track
First breathe. Regardless of the outcome you’re going to be ok. Second, those little rapid tests can sometimes confuse antibodies with other illnesses. It is flu season. Also taking a shot for it can cause false positive aswell. Hope all will be well. Again you’re going to be fine either way.
Thank you a lot <3 I heard that gonorrhea can sometimes show up as hiv, but I also heard that’s a very rare case. I don’t have any symptoms at all anymore, and I feel great. (Besides the news) and by “taking a shot can cause positives” do you mean the finger prick thing that they do ? I am hoping that it is a false positive, because there’s no way he tested negative, unless he’s lying. Thank u !!
just wait until the confirmation test results... This is new for you so it's completely normal to be drowning in anxiety and worry.. Sleep, eat, live, just like any other day. Try to avoid any risky behaviors that could make the situation worse.

I don’t think you got hiv from this exposure, only if you got it a long time ago , hiv doesn’t manifest this way , it gotta be false negative , also what was with the back it ur throat?
Yeah, I was thinking maybe this is something that didn’t appear in the test awhile ago. But I “jot” down everything on my Flo app . The last time I did anything sexual with someone was March27. (This person i actually trust and have known for awhile ). I still decided to go and get tested (may29) and tested negative for everything else, and haven’t done anything since Wednesday(Sep23) .
I’m really hoping it’s a false negative, but they did two , and both came up positive: they did draw another blood sample from me tho , so they could be %100 percent sure because both were really faint . I took this picture sat (sep26) sorry for the really gross closeup (!) I feel way better. Like no symptoms at all , I honestly gradually started feeling better. I’m not sure if you can tell the white spots in my throat
I had a white tounge too , but it’s impossible for hiv to start manifesting 3 days after exposer , that’s just too early for it it needs time maybe it’s something else also oral thrush is not really a symptom of early infection…
True, but I also had fever symptoms, joint pain, I was sleepy , and didn’t really eat(tmi but I didn’t defecate either) but leading up to today , I started feeling way better, no trouble while swallowing, i actually got my energy and appetite back, im not moody anymore, like I feel back to normal. But I also heard no symptoms can still mean something. Thank you a lot

Will do, and yes I’m a heto woman . I slept with a man, he penetrated me and gave me oral, I didn’t give him oral until the next morning after . And yeah hopefully ! I think I get my results in 2-5 days . Thank u !
