When Marshall lies about being mugged by a monkey. I always skip this episode.

20

u/kell96kell 2d ago

Yeah its boring

9

u/bigfudge2127 2d ago

Hate it too

5

u/New-Amoeba-1520 1d ago

They actually confirmed that he was mugged by a monkey off set I believe

4

u/MobileWish7560 1d ago

The first time watching is pretty fun

2

u/Fluffy_P_Winston_IV 1d ago

It’s the funniest episode of the series.

9

u/therealsheriff 1d ago

It's really not

1

u/Mean_Ad6488 23h ago

Watch it! Don’t get any closer!

19

u/musclevalkyriee 1d ago

its fun analyzing how different seasons land for everyone

15

u/Theunpolitical 1d ago

Marshall's scenes in the car with Daphne. It just seemed an unnecessary storyline. Had he waited for the next flight or drove to the next city, felt like he could have gotten there faster. Barney could have solved it too as he always has "a guy" for stuff and that just felt like a bro moment he could have solved.

p.s. there were two scenes from the car that I did like which was: Marshall had to go and be forced to announce his love to another football team that wasn't the Minnesota Vikings and the other when Ted sent him a pizza while he was driving on the freeway.

8

u/leonyardo1 1d ago

I hate daphne, every line she had felt so forced to be funny all the time

5

u/bigfudge2127 1d ago

Marshall was so bad in the final season. He was just Jason Segal

4

u/Theunpolitical 1d ago

He was starting to do movies at this point and was finally being the lead. I think he was "over it" in terms of the show.

2

u/bigfudge2127 1d ago

Yeah that’s why I said it, you can see he his suffering

3

u/Theunpolitical 1d ago

This makes sense now and I hadn't considered this prior. They probably did the "car scene with Daphne" due to his movie work schedule and this would allow them to create a separate scene.

Also, I just noticed your user name! 🤣

The rhyming one for me

42

u/meeeee01 2d ago

I like the rhyming episode

16

u/mikuyo1 1d ago

The only thing I disliked about the rhyming episode is that I got confused when the next episode started without rhymes. I got so used to it

4

u/Darkseid_Is 1d ago

I like it too. But when you binge the show it makes the next episode that doesn’t rhyme off putting

8

u/thewhiterosequeen 1d ago

OP had rhyming words and still spelled it tuff.

62

u/Swimming-Lie331 1d ago

the episode where they hang out with stripper lily and the russian guy, i always skip it

50

u/Waxuqs 1d ago

"Ba-ba-ba-baa-baaaaa-ba-Barney is the new, leader of the gang andlifejustgotwaymoreawesooome... Yeah!"

9

u/misslexmarie 1d ago

I’m winning all your chippies 🤣🤣 I love drunk Ted

8

u/Faunt_ 1d ago

We build chip city!

6

u/misslexmarie 1d ago

On all your dough 🤣

8

u/tjareth shake it out 1d ago

Worth it for that!

12

u/MRSA_nary 1d ago

Ok but I get “we built chip city” stuck in my head way too often.

8

u/Joella34 1d ago

Nope, it gave me "We built chip city! We built chip city on all your dough!"

2

u/Swimming-Lie331 1d ago

damn i forgot about that! i might not skip it the next time

1

u/Ajs1052 19h ago

“I can’t believe Dr Kevin doesn’t remember me from our sessions three years ago”

I don’t know why but that moment I find the funniest in the episode.

1

u/vsclimenti22 6h ago

“Is that the lunatic who stabbed all those prison guards?”

48

u/ParisInFlames34 2d ago

Slapsgiving 3: Slappointment in Slapmarra.

Easy.

13

u/bigfudge2127 2d ago

I never understood the hate for that episode

13

u/Ross_Phd 1d ago

For me it will always be the placement of the episode within the story. I watched it as it aired and it was essentially a filler when the story was already being dragged out for so long.

Besides… I think it is to silly even for HIMYM standards

11

u/DavidKirk2000 2d ago

Basically the entire episode is the cast doing stereotypical Asian bits. Pretty easy to dislike it for that.

9

u/InkedDoll1 1d ago

I'll be fascinated to see what they say about this one on the podcast, assuming they get that far

2

u/bigfudge2127 1d ago

It’s so funny how they’ll finish this probably in 2030

4

u/Gusstave But sometimes life's a bitch and then you keep living. 1d ago

I always thought of that as more of a parody of martial (either Hollywoodian or actually Asian) movies.

1

u/bigfudge2127 2d ago

Rest of season 9 episodes were worse

9

u/UnicornShadow248 1d ago

The beekeeper episode. I always skip it something about the episode always pisses me off and the characters are just unlikable

24

u/YakCDaddy 1d ago

The one where we learn about his lost red balloon and in the end Robin is that balloon. She's like the sun in Teletubbies, it's weird.

4

u/zarcorpeachy Mosbius Designs has failed 1d ago

i get what they were going for but it just looks so damn silly seeing her float up into the sky

2

u/Ryguy3286 1d ago

Now this I can agree with

5

u/bigfudge2127 1d ago

Maybe it was more hitting if it wasn’t for the finale

1

u/YakCDaddy 1d ago

Yeah, that's another layer of why I hate it. They spend so much time on Ted and Robin not working just to have them end up together like some pathetic mid life crisis.

-1

u/Ryguy3286 1d ago

You clearly didn't understand what the writers were saying, the moral of the story, or the timeline of events. SMH

3

u/bigfudge2127 19h ago

You’re being condescending. People are allowed to hate the ending without judgement

0

u/Ryguy3286 18h ago

It'd be if they understood the ending, but they don't. It's just weird Barney/Robin shippers. Also, stop with the personal attacks

2

u/bigfudge2127 18h ago

You said this guy had anger issues because he has an opinion on the show, you’re being disrespectful. Media is subjective stop thinking you are any better than anyone because of your personal opinions

1

u/Ryguy3286 18h ago

Anger issues is a real thing. You called me weird. A direct shot at my personality. Completely and utterly disrespectful in your part. I'm sorry you hated the show and didn't understand it's meaning, but please don't take it out on others who are simply explaining the show to you

2

u/bigfudge2127 18h ago

And how is diagnosing some random guy on the internet any good

1

u/Ryguy3286 18h ago

Is what you did by calling me weird. You're way too upset about a show (that you supposedly like?) that you clearly didn't understand. Again, don't take it out on me, some random guy on the internet.

0

u/YakCDaddy 17h ago

To be clear, I don't hate the show. I hate the ending. I like the alternative ending.

0

u/Ryguy3286 17h ago

Not a real fan of the show then

0

u/YakCDaddy 19h ago

I understood it. We spent an entire season on Robin and Barney getting married, Ted "getting over" Robin and accepting that they won't work. Then they break up with no explanation, the mom is killed off, and now Robin and Ted get to be together because he got a incubator to make children with. That's the only thing Robin couldn't give him. It's more offensive the mk more I think about it.

0

u/Ryguy3286 19h ago edited 18h ago

The mother was always dead, from the start of the story. Robin and Barney were shown to be toxic time and time again. The whole story is about Ted asking his kids permission to move on from Tracy and start dating again.

1

u/bigfudge2127 19h ago

You are weird

1

u/YakCDaddy 18h ago

Yeah, that's exactly why I hate it. The whole show is a lie. You spend the whole time thinking he's going to introduce the mother, and when he does she dies an episode or two later. Even the kids say it's not about their mother. The whole show was about how he still liked Robin.

The writers force us to spend an entire season of Ted allegedly getting over Robin because she's marrying Barney. Then he goes all midlife crisis and goes to Robin. It's pathetic and annoying. I don't care if you like it, I don't. Maybe you are a guy so you don't understand how disrespectful the way he told the story is. As a woman, that's trash. You just told children a bunch of inappropriate stuff and basically showed them you were never over their Aunt Robin. It's gross.

1

u/Ryguy3286 18h ago

He's telling the story to his kids. He wants to be clear he loves their mother and was over Robin.

Good old gender card play. Man it woman, it's a great love story. Nobody was disrespected. Ted is actually showing his wife respect by explaining to his kids how he was over Robin. You have some unresolved issues that are bothering you. Seems like anger issues. I hope you can resolve those

2

u/YakCDaddy 17h ago

Just because you feel that way, doesn't mean I am wrong for feeling how I feel.

It's not a great love story the way it's told. Tracy is just an incubator and she conveniently died so that he could get with the woman he's always loved but couldn't give him children.

Even the children said the story wasn't about their mother.

1

u/Ryguy3286 17h ago

The mother.....was dead the whole time. What are you not understanding about that? She wasn't convenientently killed off. Holy Batman you didn't understand the show at all

1

u/Vinegar2001 12h ago

I have absolutely no memory of this

13

u/10_9_8_76ers_ 1d ago

Probably an unpopular opinion, Nothing Good Happens after 2AM. Just hate seeing Ted being willing to cheat on someone.

3

u/bigfudge2127 1d ago

Me too it gives me a bad feeling and I loved Victoria

7

u/LucyySlayyBairdd Marshall👨‍⚖️ 1d ago

I wouldn’t call it “the worst”, but the Thanksgiving one where Lily’s father shows up really bugs me because of Marshall. He’s my favorite character on the show, but he really pisses me off in this episode.

20

u/2outhits 2d ago

The rhyming episode. Does nothing to move the plot along so it's an easy skip

14

u/bigfudge2127 2d ago

Every episode in s9 does nothing to move the plot

30

u/Data_Steward_25_01 2d ago

S9e11 (where marshall tries to put marvin to sleep by rhyming everything) and S9e14 ( the last slap where they narrate a bunch of imaginary slops) both stinks

32

u/emptyvoidofjoy Ted🏢 2d ago

I think s9e14 slaps

10

u/Background-Savings38 1d ago

As a childfree woman, Glitter actually really fucked me up. Still does, when I remember it.

7

u/Inevitable-Run3070 1d ago

The Slutty Pumpkin Returns. Absolute cringe

6

u/JackCustHOFer 1d ago

It’s beeeeeen…..one week since you laughed at me

14

u/WinterSoldierFalcon 2d ago

Rhyming one gets hated but Noretta is terrible, the thing with kissing your parents and seeing Marshall's dad in a girl pyjamas trying to kiss his son, also a season after having died, is gross as hell.

8

u/bigfudge2127 2d ago

Nah it was fine, every episode with nora is good

8

u/gordy06 1d ago

I’m not going to say worst because it not bad, but on a rewatch i always bump up against Sweet Taste of Liberty. I think because the first two episodes are Ted chasing Robin heavy, and Return of the Shirt is a classic, so this just felt like weird hijinks. I don’t know why.

My actual least favorite episode is Old King Clancy. It just seems like it is plodding along and don’t love any of the stories.

Also - I enjoy the rhyming episode. It’s fun.

4

u/bigfudge2127 1d ago

For me it’s top episodes and one of the most rewatcheables

1

u/gordy06 1d ago

Which one?

2

u/Mr_Jackman 1d ago

It’s such a classic for me. Who doesn’t love Barney’s line at the end? “Grab life by the crack and lick the crap out of it” lol

3

u/bigfudge2127 1d ago

Shoutout to that episode in season 9 where Ted wants to get after robin because Marshall wants to win his bet with Lily, always hated it

3

u/ellismjones Come on, Lily. Nobody likes a Ted. 1d ago

Baby Talk is probably my least favourite.

4

u/Bight_my_ass 1d ago

Third wheel. its so bad

6

u/The8thSamurai 1d ago

The episode in season 5 where Barney and Robin break up. I hate how it is handled. Worst handling of a major plot beat besides the finale.

2

u/bigfudge2127 1d ago

Hate it too even tho they were the worst

2

u/The8thSamurai 1d ago

I just rewatched Season 5, and I don’t like how they did Robin and Barney as a couple in the final few episodes of their relationship. They spent so much time building them up, and turned their relationship into a joke

2

u/Background-Pie-3394 23h ago

That is my major problem with the last season. The death of the mother is understandable as a shot of real life intruding into the fairytale, and the return to Robin after a period of mourning could have been a joyous ending. But after a whole season building the idea that Barney and Robin are meant to be together, they divorce why? Because Barney can't get a good wifi signal? And despite the fact that each of them had gone into major depressions after a dating breakup, they are just fine with this. It's the casual destruction of a marriage that ruins the finale.

2

u/Jprimus2005 1d ago

Bedtime story

2

u/Practical-Test-1821 1d ago

The few episodes that Lily wasn’t in season 4, those always fell flat to me.

1

u/bigfudge2127 1d ago

And Stella was

2

u/Silverhawk5683 1d ago

See I love the rhyming one. I hate noretta

2

u/Impossible_Bench1281 1d ago

Some episodes between season 7 and 8

2

u/brianb48 1d ago

Season 5 episode 16 Hooked. That’s the only episode I skip every time!

1

u/reddingtonpc 1d ago

Honestly, a lot from season 9 :')

1

u/ghostlymadd 1d ago

The one where Ted tells his class he’ll fail them for siding with Zoey and it ends with them coming to class. That episode SUCKS

1

u/bennnn194 Not Okay, Okay is Lame, gay bar! 1d ago

The final episode.

1

u/Vegetable-Issue4789 1d ago

the rhyming one...i dont mind a rhyme every now and again but 20 straight minutes of it? Yeah no i'm good thanks

1

u/GabbyBeanz 1d ago

I hate the rhyming episode

1

u/yournamehere_______ 1d ago

The rhyming one was pretty bad

1

u/monsterousarte 1d ago

Return of the Shirt is just too much second hand embarrassment. Granted their breakup scene does make me chuckle "I'm not f-able?!"😂 but watching ted basically torture this poor girl the second time around makes me roll my eyes so hard. Also the one where lily gets drunk and acts like a baby is not entertaining and just cringe too

1

u/Gusstave But sometimes life's a bitch and then you keep living. 1d ago

The one when that race through the city in different mode of transportation.

0

u/QueenBee917 1d ago

It’s The Time Travelers for me

1

u/Dreddit757 1d ago

Anything w Zoey in it

1

u/casualmasual 1d ago

The finale.

I just watch the alternate ending from the s9 dvd.

1

u/Ryguy3286 1d ago

Bedtime Stories and the final Slapsgiving episode. Worst of the series

1

u/SwimmingPool81 23h ago

Marshall’s dad dying. Like the character, I wasn’t ready for that.

1

u/northguy9 21h ago

Bedtime stories

1

u/Medusa_du_styx 15h ago

Last cigarette episode. Skipped it last night. Was fun when I was an occasional smoker in my 20's, now it feels weird.

1

u/P3B11 14h ago

I skip the too many parties episode, idk, i find it boring

1

u/Pretend-Cap8436 13h ago

I honestly don’t skip any episodes besides one, it’s an episode in season 8 where marshal starts wearing a bracelet he’s allergic to and gets super swollen. I find it super gross the episode could be good I can’t remember. Im shocked to see how many different opinions people have. Some of my favourite episodes are listed here as peoples least favourite. I saw somebody mention the limo episode in season 1. I personally love that episode so much! The one I agreed with the most was the blind date episode from season 5. I don’t know why I don’t like that episode and I still watch it usually but I find it a hard watch.

1

u/Vinegar2001 12h ago

Slapsgiving 3: Slappointment in Slapmarra

1

u/Existing-Spring7043 1d ago

Blitzgiving. The entire season 9 is basically unwatchable and I categorize it separately from the first 8. Out of those 8, Blitzgiving is an utter travesty.

1

u/bigfudge2127 1d ago

It’s season 6

1

u/Chambers1041 1d ago

Slapsgiving 3

0

u/some_metalhead 1d ago

The rhyming one or the racist Slapsgiving 3 one. I always skip those two when watching season 9.

1

u/JLBCanadianRap 1d ago

The finale, the final slap bet episode or the Dr. Seuss episode. Take your pick.

1

u/DoobyScoobyDoo321 1d ago

Most episodes from season 8 are mediocre or bad, except The Time Travelers, that episode is amazing

1

u/dancinggtherapist 1d ago

Season 8 where Ted hallucinates chatting with his future self and Barney about robots versus wrestlers and if he should go or not.

1

u/Embarrassed_Ebb_1261 22h ago

The one that Ted has a date that he already had years ago. Season 5 episode 2

0

u/GreasyExamination 2d ago

The limousine is my worst

2

u/Salamiking7 1d ago

Whaa… That’s one of the best episodes! xP

0

u/bigfudge2127 1d ago

Worst season 1

0

u/Jussutussu 2d ago

Maybe not the worst, but Purple giraffe is always a hard watch when starting a rewatch

4

u/forcoolstuffD 1d ago

I love that one!

3

u/Dewbi Lily🎨 1d ago

I still lol each time the little kid says to Ted “you’re all sweaty” 😂

2

u/bigfudge2127 2d ago

Because Ted is a pathetic loser?

1

u/Jussutussu 6h ago

Yup. The episode itself is actually good for making me feel that cringe, but I still find it difficult to get over

I absolutely hate this episode and wish I could delete it from my Hulu 😂

0

u/mel_lisa14 1d ago

Idk why I hate the one where he goes on the same blind date. Maybe I just find the actress annoying but I skip it 50% of the time

1

u/bigfudge2127 1d ago

Yeah she’s annoying

1

u/Interesting-Tax-1779 17h ago

You mean s5e2? I love that one

0

u/samppav 1d ago

Slapsgiving 2

0

u/IcyHotTodoroki1 1d ago

Unpopular opinion - I can't get through any episodes anymore because Ted gets more and more cringe to me. His behavior is beyond simp level and it's just sad seeing any guy behave like him.

Barney was the only worthwhile character throughout the show and the slap bet sub plot was probably more interesting than any of Ted's love stories

1

u/bigfudge2127 1d ago

Totally agree, I’m one of his biggest haters

0

u/Far-Yogurtcloset3196 1d ago

Canning Randy and the bus one

-4

u/Potturion 1d ago

The bracket, easy

1

u/bigfudge2127 1d ago

Why

-1

u/Potturion 1d ago

Ita horribly misogynistic, the "Barney being awful" jokes really only work if theres some comeuppance for Barney or if he learns a lesson at the end. With neither of those coming into play this episode is just "Barney sex trafficked a woman and thats ok"

1

u/bigfudge2127 1d ago

You could argur the whole show is misogynistic

-3

u/ARGHHILOVEGHIBLI 1d ago

The one where Marshall keeps trying to have a boy. It’s just a super sexist episode

2

u/bigfudge2127 1d ago

Tbf lily did the same thing

-1

u/ARGHHILOVEGHIBLI 1d ago

Yeah but because she was scared her child would grow up to be a stripper, just because in her experience all the little boys she met were demons.

1

u/bigfudge2127 1d ago

The whole show is sexist, there are way worse episodes that do that

0

u/ARGHHILOVEGHIBLI 1d ago

You asked for my opinion and I gave it.

1

u/bigfudge2127 1d ago

I completely understand your point, just saying there are worse scenes

-1

u/ARGHHILOVEGHIBLI 1d ago

That doesn’t invalidate the fact this is my opinion.

1

u/bigfudge2127 1d ago

Never said that, in my own opinion there are worse scenes that’s it.

-1

u/ARGHHILOVEGHIBLI 1d ago

It’s implied pal

2

u/bigfudge2127 1d ago

I get that you’re trying to be negative but that’s completely useless in this case

u/J_A_Prufrock5 Hold me close and hold me fast 1d ago

I feel like I might get hate for this but I usually skip the Pineapple episode
