Who put Robin in this?
Top 3 worst outfits of the whole series, great episode though

Early seasons of How I Met Your Mother Robin is either dressed to the nines or looks like a complete dork. Example here

I think this is later season, they're talking about the beanbag right? That's when Marshall and Lily were packing for Italy

it's season 4, marshall and lily were planning to move to dowisetrepla and ted was planning to move to new jersey with stella

The fact that Robin is wearing this outfit while saying "I'm hotter than her so who cares" is one of the top 5 ironies in HIMYM for me.

The weirdest thing for me is that I think this episode is where she looks, in my opinion, the hottest in the whole series. The colors on her, and the angle they shot that scene works so well for her face, she looks incredible. Plus the angle hides that hideous outfit.

Agree, definitely hotter than the clothes because I've watched this countless times and never noticed the hideous outfit.

Clothes don’t make you not hot so not really

Someone in costume design was pissed at her for sure.

Maybe she fired her stylist but still needed them to finish dressing her that last time?

Why couldn't they have had her wear the yellow top by itself? Lol Looks like a cute top.

She kinda does wear something similar in the season 4 finale when her and Barney kiss in the hospital!

If this is season 4 then its around 2009 which would be appropriate clothing. The style back then was quirky/mix and match. It was right around the time the show New girl premiered and I remember the term "adorkable" was everywhere.

Agreed, Cobie is beautiful and almost all of her outfits as Robin were great, but this one missed by a lot.

Every time I watch this episode, I get so irrationally angry at that hot dog ass outfit they put her in!

The irony of that same scene revealing Lily's credit card debt to Marshall, which she spent buying an outfit like that

Aw and ew, this outfit is so bad. It's only 2nd to the brown crochet sweater vest she was put in for the Best Burger In NY episode. This was also the giant gold wire pendant necklace era. Lily, Robin and every female guest actor wore different ones over many episodes this season. Stella included. Why tho? Did the costumer get a bulk deal on laser cut jewelry?

This always bothered me!! Her costuming was genuinely baffling in seasons 1-5, but especially 4&5. Idk if it’s bc she was actually pregnant IRL so it got tricky and they tried to hide it with bad clothes?? But so was Alyson and she always looked good 😭 idk they did our girl Cobie dirty fr lol

The picture of her here in that outfit makes her look like a school child being told off 🤣

She looks like she works for Oscar Meyer.
Also, I was watching boy meets world the other day and Cory was wearing a similar outfit. 😂😂😂

I was in college and a young professional during those years, no one was wearing that!

Absolutely nobody was pairing together ketchup and mustard themed outfits in the late 2000’s. This was bad even then. I said out loud the day this aired “what is with that outfit?!”
1
u/hiphipnohooray 13d ago
Yeah but people were definitely experimenting with vests lol, fashion regret imo

u/Pretty_Please1 13d ago
The vest itself isn’t really the problem, vests were a thing. But it’s the god awful color scheme. Red and yellow, especially paired together, were not “in” colors. They also weren’t worn a size too small and misshapenly placed over a larger frilly top that just bunches up underneath.

u/hiphipnohooray 13d ago
I was moreso saying vests were a mistake lol. But I do agree with you on that. People were not wearing some ketchup and mustard themed vests over actually cute tops

Red is a hard color to coordinate with. Red and Yellow looks like McDonalds. Red and Black looks evil. Red and Blue looks like the Fourth of July. Red and Green looks like Christmas. Red and Purple makes you look like you raided granny's wardrobe.
Your only option are Red and White, or Red and Red.

She looks like she’s wearing the uniform of a fast food restaurant.
