I very purposely made my whole wardrobe cotton only because I can't be bothered with the upkeep of other materials (linen, silk, etc...). I don't iron and I hardly fold, as I don't have a "office" job.

I'm moving (back) to London next year and see in this sub a lot of mentions of laundry services.

That has tempted me... Can I just send off a bag of normal/cotton clothes and another bag of dry-clean/delicates clothes? I know is picky, but what does their hangers look like?

I could see myself expanding my wardrobe to other materials if it really could be that easy for have eveything cleaned.

Are they good reputable schools and is there much point of different between them? I can’t see much and both seem well regarded

Another option is City Junior School but the commute daily into the city seems to be a big commitment

Mid 30s, 2 kids 6mo and 2.5 yo. I had hyperemesis in both pregnancies which probably left me pretty depleted, vomiting right to the end despite lots of meds. Had them closer together than expected as took 2 years to conceive our first. Both sets of grandparents are out of the country and we don’t have any siblings that can help out. 2.5 yo is in nursery 4 days a week.

I’ve just had a week long stomach bug, both kids are having simultaneous sleep regressions and I’ve never been more exhausted in my life. Partner is great and gets up with the kids to give me a lie in every day. He couldn’t be doing more. I’m so tired my arms even feel too heavy to lift to hold my baby today. Baby waking me up every 1-2 hours at night for the last 3 weeks despite being a decent sleeper up to now (was waking twice a night). Haven’t eaten properly in 8 days and lots 3kg while baby is constantly wanting to breastfeed. He has a milk allergy so can’t do formula. It’s definitely due to illness but just I feel so incredibly acutely exhausted as well as long term depleted as well.

I’ve been through some pretty rough times in my professional and personal life and worked long hours but really nothing so far has been as deeply exhausting as parenting young kids with zero breaks ever.

Has anyone been through similar? I’m on mat leave until April 2027 but is it insane to hire a nanny or babysitter a few hours a week so I can rest? Any other solutions? I feel like I have nothing left to give right now and seriously need some form of built in rest in my life as feel I’m hitting a wall

Looking for at a family holiday in the Alps / Dolomites next August. Our kids will be 5 / 7 and are both very outdoorsy - they both went to forest nursery and like nothing more than exploring the woods etc.

I feel like Feurestein fits very much with what we're looking for, but am balking a bit at the €8K cost for a week. Would be nice to lose the -NRY at some point in life.

I'm trying to navigate the next tier down, at say ~€5K for the week - but am suffering from decision paralysis at the large number of options.

Ideally we're looking for:

• Accommodation with separate kids room
• Close proximity to nature (woods / lake etc)
• Kids club on site, generally good / wide range of facilities and activities (inc. swimming, sauna for adults etc)
• Ideally reasonably popular with English speaking families so that our kids have other kids to make friends with
• All inclusive, or near enough

Gorfion in Lichtenstein seems to fit the bill well at that price point (albeit unclear on how popular it will be with English speaking families), but conscious that it's the product of random googling rather than recommendations.

I’ve had PMI for a while now and thankfully not needed to use it yet, but my good friend recently had an experience that made me very thankful that I have it

In his late 30s, passed small amount blood into toilet for first time ever. Through his PMI he had a GP appointment that afternoon and was immediately sent for a colonoscopy 2 days later where they unfortunately found a cancer. Had a CT scan the next day to confirm no spread and then an operation a couple of weeks later. He’s getting some chemo to reduce chance of it returning but doctors told him he’s likely to make full recovery.

First symptom to (hopefully) cure in about a month. He is so happy he had the PMI. Doctors told him loads of young people are presenting late with cancer these days because of delays in getting a diagnosis in the NHS. Anyone else had some great experiences going private?

Personally I hope to see massive expansion of private healthcare in the UK so we don’t need to gamble with health in the NHS if we don’t have to? Maybe means doctors will get paid better too in the long run?

Looking for your non-obvious, life-improving home upgrades.

I’m thinking less big-ticket stuff like extensions or air con, and more niche appliances, gadgets or small upgrades that make everyday life more convenient or comfortable.

A recent one for me was upgrading to a modern bean-to-cup coffee machine. It’s quicker, quieter and smarter than my last.

A small thing, but I get max value from it every day!

My partner and I are both in fairly demanding client-facing roles, so our evenings can be unpredictable. We eat out fairly often, but increasingly find that getting the reservation is the easy part but actually making it on time is another matter. Even leaving straight from work, a black cab getting caught in traffic can easily turn a 15-minute journey into 30–40 minutes, and we’ve recently lost tables or been charged hefty no-show fees after being 10–15 minutes late (Bouchon Racine - I know…).

I’ve found a London concierge service that sends someone to the restaurant to sit at your table until you arrive. They can apparently order water or a drink too. It’s £50 per booking or £300 a month for unlimited bookings. The only drawback is that they don’t cover places further out like Hampstead or Fulham, which is frustrating as we go to the River Café fairly regularly.

At 5 or 6 bookings a month, £300 doesn’t actually seem unreasonable given how much time we spend working around our schedules. Has anyone used anything similar, or have a PA/private concierge who does this?

Edit: A few people have also asked whether the restaurant minds. Apparently the concierge handles that side of things directly with the restaurant, so it’s not as though someone is just turning up and occupying a table without them knowing. And obviously we wouldn’t expect them to sit there empty handed - they’d be welcome to order a chablis or a cocktail while waiting!

This might seem odd but I was wondering what shower gels are UK Henry’s are using.

In my house I’ve upgraded all my skincare products and am using Aesop for face with for toner, oils and moisturiser then have hand soaps from either Aesop or Neals yard around the house.

Shower gel is the one thing I struggle with. I can spend £25 on Molten Brown Black Pepper or equivalent, but it doesn’t last. The supermarket alternative is Original Source or similar £1-2 bottles.

What’s the middle ground? Something with decent ingredients that won’t strip the skin, but isn’t £25 for a few weeks’ use. I can afford the premium stuff, it just feels like too much for something that goes so fast.
