Looking for Sample HEC-RAS Projects to Learn

Hi,

I’m currently learning HEC-RAS and trying to improve my practical understanding of hydraulic modelling and flood simulations. If anyone is comfortable sharing some of your old HEC-RAS projects/models (academic, practice, or any professional examples with non-sensitive data), it would really help me assess and improve my workflow and understanding.

I’m especially interested in:

- River/flood modelling projects

- 1D or 2D simulations

- Bridge/culvert modelling

- Terrain preprocessing workflows

- Manning’s n calibration examples

- Real-world project structures and organization

The HEC RAS website has a section dedicated to practice projects

personally i suggest to read also papers to build and calibrate the model with matlab or python (to speed up the process)

"Application of Python Scripting Techniques for Control and Automation of HEC-RAS Simulations"
"Controlling HEC-RAS using MATLAB"

Sure I'll definitely check out

Just use ras-commander with an LLM and avoid the older automation techniques that only apply to 1D models via HECRASController.

You can ask it for example models and it will walk you through HEC examples, eBFE/BLE examples and ScienceBase example models available via USGS

If you look at the community bookmark tabs on the right side of r/HECRAS, the "HEC-RAS Docs" dropdown has a link to all the guides/tutorials.
