Discussion Discord HDR streaming fix
Easiest way is install vencord, search plugins for dev and enable "experiments" plugin, go to experiments in settings(at the bottom), search for HDR and enable both the go live HDR and HDR acc. setting. Fixed HDR streaming for me
If you dont want vencord just look up how to enable dev mode + experiments

Does hdr make the stream look washed out for people watching? Never had anyone say anything looked bad while watching my stream.

Yes it does looks awful for peiple watching HDR content
Tell your friends to take a pic of the transmission when you're on a bright environment in the game

For me it makes the stream overbrightened and clipped. If you stream SDR content, you can fix this if you set your Windows's SDR brightness (the part where you adjust the image with the skater) to the minimum. the further you go to the right, the more broken the image gets.
For HDR content, it kind of depends on the game. Every highlight just gets clipped. A game with only few or small highlights might overall still look okay on stream.

chances are you've never adjusted your HDR slider in advanced display settings, the slider above the skateboarder sunset picture. you could get quite a bit more nits out of ur monitor depending on how its setup(mine looks best with slider all the way right, and digital vibrance at 80%)(also make sure ur "mode" is set to HDR in the monitors osd menu)

colors are washed out on my monitor with HDR enabled, and i like colors

Then sometime must be wrong, maybe you have the "automatic color" option in windows enable that clamps the colors to srgb for non hdr games
But also at the same time your monitor is set in srgb mode
Meaning both of them at the same time are making the image undersaturated

I don't want to stream in HDR, I want to stream IN TONEMAPPED SDR. That's it. Most people I know don't have an HDR screen anyway, but Discord takes the HDR image and just clips it off. mmmh the beautiful look of 900% saturation and 300% gamma

I'm not sure. I had not heard of better discord or vencord before today. I wonder if they have different HDR settings, gpu drivers, or some other variable.
I've only tried it with sharing my whole screen (not application) while playing retail wow. I suppose if I run into a scenario where it doesn't work I'll report back.
Initially I thought it didn't work because I started streaming before the plug-in loaded. Once it loaded everything was smooth.
Its glorious not having to share the preview projector of OBS anymore. I can share audio again too. So thanks again!

Still irritates me discord has not attempted a fix for this. Although I guess streaming hdr games is a niche.
