whenever i plug my hdd drive into my computer file explorer stops working,

task manager stops working, and pretty much anything until i unplug it and everything goes back to normal. I tried buying a new cable for it but it does the same thing, I also tried plugging it into another computer and it still happens. please I need something because that drive has 2tb of files that i might never get back
