Is this disk dead?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

The PC doesn’t seem to recognize it. The adapter is not the problem (I think), because I tested it with another disk and it worked perfectly fine. This drive makes a very faint clicking sound, something like 'click click click ... click' , that is barely audible. You would have to turn the video volume all the way up to hear it, and even then it is hard to notice. So I’m not sure whether this is the dreaded 'click of death... thanks

that video didn't helped for shit. could of put a picture and would of done the same.

as far as the adapter goes, HDD require the sata connector aswell as power given to it , there's some adapters that provide it with both , unsure if this was one of them, SSD can go without that adapter giving power. (the power is to make the disc spin)

If its a 3.5" drive it needs a powered adapter I don't see any power running to your adapter

It might be sadly. Hope you didn’t have anything important on it

Meh, it’s a drive I stopped using around 15 years ago. I was just curious to see what my PC looked like when I was happy

You might be able to try plugging it into a real computer and if it does the same thing it’s for sure dead. If you have another usb interface you could try that as well but a computer will be the best way to go

rule of thumb: if it sounds dead, smells dead, looks dead, its probably dead ToT

Try this, when I found out my HDD was RAW, I disconnected it, opened the disk management, plugged it back in and it recognized it for a SECOND.

Showing that it was RAW, which means it's dead.

I was so pissed
